NIO wins 3 awards at the JD Power Car Ratings in China

The EV maker NIO announced Thursday that was awarded in three different categories at the 2022 J.D. Power Awards: China NEV Automotive Performance Execution and Layout, China NEV Initial Quality Study, and as Luxury NEV brand innovation.

The study examines NEV owners’ assessments of their new vehicles within the first two to six months of ownership. In 2022, the average NEV-APEAL score for Chinese NEVs is 739 out of 1,000 points having increased by 4 points from 2021.

J.D. Power is the world’s leading data analysis and consumer insight company and the world’s largest and most authoritative third-party research agency with the owners ranking their experience in each category, NIO said.


NIO ES8 won first place in the 2022 China New Energy Vehicle Automotive Performance Execution and Layout (NEV-APEAL) representing its second win since J.D. Power China NEV-APEAL was released in 2021.

NIO ES6 ranked first at the 2022 China NEV Initial Quality Study (NEV-IQS). NIO has won in the J.D. Power Quality survey for four consecutive years. 

NIO Brand won first place in the 2022 China TXI Luxury NEV brand innovation index, an index to evaluate the overall innovation ability of a brand. 

Models that ranked first in their respective segments were:

  • Small BEV segment: NETA V
  • Compact BEV segment: Aion Y
  • Midsize BEV car segment: XPeng P7
  • Midsize BEV SUV segment: BYD Song Plus BEV
  • Luxury BEV segment: NIO ES8
  • Mass market PHEV segment: Li ONE

On Thursday, a video leaked on the internet showed over one hundred units of the NIO ET7 model at the Shanghai Port waiting to be batched to Europe, amid the company’s expansion in the upcoming months.

Recently, NIO CFO Steven Feng confirmed that the EV manufacturer will also enter Sweden, The Netherlands, and Denmark with the sedan NIO ET7 — something that had only been confirmed for the German market, the second European country for the EV maker.
