NIO signs a strategic cooperation with WWF on the 53rd World Earth Day

NIO and WWF announced on Friday that reached a strategic cooperation on Clean Parks ecological co-construction. Clean Parks is a global ecological co-construction plan initiated by NIO to implement the vision of Blue Sky Coming. It is also the world’s first open platform initiated by an automobile company to support the construction of national parks and protected areas — the EV maker said.

Based on this strategic cooperation, NIO and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) will use their respective advantages to “work together to promote the sustainable development of Clean Parks, protect the ecosystem, and welcome the clear sky.”

“On the occasion of the 53rd World Earth Day, NIO and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) reached a strategic cooperation. WWF, as one of the co-sponsors of Clean Parks, will work with NIO to promote the construction of a clean and low-carbon energy self-recycling system in protected areas in China and around the world, promote sustainable development, and protect the authenticity and integrity of the ecosystem.” — WWF stated.

In order to promote the sustainable development of the world, at the 75th United Nations General Assembly in September 2020, China promised to strive to achieve carbon peaking by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060.

In October 2021, at the Leaders Summit of the Fifteenth Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Chinese government announced the official establishment of the first batch of national parks. In the context of promoting the implementation of the dual-carbon target and steadily advancing the construction of the national park system, NIO is also thinking about how to turn ecological co-construction into a more systematic and long-term action, and Clean Parks came into being.

According to a picture posted on Twitter, a white NIO ET7 Model was seen on Thursday charging in Munich, Germany. The vehicle was using a charger from EWE Go Station, a German subsidiary of the fifth-largest energy supplier in the country, EWE AG. In late 2020, EWE Go announced a joint electrification project with McDonald’s, aiming to install charging points at over 1,000 restaurants in Germany by 2025.

At the time, Li revealed that the ET7 Model will arrive to Norway during Q4. It was also announced that the new ET5 Model, with 1,000km range, will be available in Norway (and several other global markets) during the Spring of 2023.

The model has seen a great demand in the Chinese market having a 6 months waiting list for the sedan unveiled on January 2021, during NIO Day. On March 22, our local source was in direct contact with NIO Sales Department and was told that the currently expected waiting time for the model is 6 months. The timeframe given by NIO indicates that EV enthusiasts living in China that still didn’t place an order for the sedan will have to wait until September to receive the car.

On April 19, a leaked image unveiled that BMW shooted the promotion video for its 2021 X4M model… using a NIO ES6. The German automaker is one of the main rivals for the Chinese electric vehicle maker NIO in Europe. By the end of May, NIO will launch a new SUV model named NIO ES7 that will rival with the 2022 BMW X5 in the Chinese Market.

Worm Capital released on Monday, April 18, its new research presentation on Tesla. When talking about Tesla’s competition, the authors present a production estimate for the biggest EV makers, predicting 1.6 million vehicles for Tesla and over 200k for NIO. If the Chinese electric vehicle maker reach this result, it will represent a 130% – 140% annual growth from 2021, when the company delivered 91,429 units.
