Nio‘s sub-brand Firefly is about to unveil a new limited edition of its debut fully electric hatchback, as fresh images leaked on Chinese social media reveal the car’s full exterior for the first time.
The photos appeared on social media just days after several units were spotted being transported in China, as EV reported earlier this week.
The new limited edition feautres a dual body and diagonal white stripes running across the hood and front fenders.
From the side, the model features a flowing stripe pattern that transitions to white toward the rear.
Firefly‘s debut model was designed with Europe as a primary market and began deliveries on the continent in August, starting with Norway and the Netherlands.
As of early October, deliveries in both European markets remain minimal.
The images were first shared by X user CnEVHome.
The white rims shown had previously appeared in a catalog published earlier this year by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), part of the standard regulatory approval process before a model’s release.
Earlier this week, Firefly hinted at a new limited edition by posting a throwback image of its previous special version on Instagram. “Throwback to our last limited edition 🧡 any guesses for what’s coming next? 👀” the post read.
That previous limited edition was launched in late August and limited to 333 units, which sold out in just 30 hours. Displayed across 48 Nio showrooms in China, the model featured exclusive wheels, decals, and interior ambient lighting.
It was available under Nio’s Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) plan for 93,800 yuan ($13,200) plus a monthly battery rental of 399 yuan ($60) — roughly 14,000 yuan above the base trim of the regular version.
Pricing details for the upcoming edition haven’t yet been disclosed.
Firefly achieved a record 5,775 deliveries in September, a 32.9% increase from the 4,346 units recorded in August.
The company aims to deliver an average of 6,700 units per month over the next 12 months, management recently said, based on its goal of reaching 100,000 cumulative customers by this time next year.
Separately, a right-hand-drive version of the Firefly hatchback was recently spotted at Nio’s UK engineering facilities.
The model will be key to the company’s planned expansion into Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK.
