The electric vehicle maker NIO announced on Sunday that delivered a total of 5,074 units in China during April 2022, representing a decrease of 28.5% year-over-year. The deliveries consisted of 4,381 premium smart electric SUVs, including 1,251 ES8s, 1,878 ES6s and 1,252 EC6s, and 693 ET7s, the Company’s flagship premium smart electric sedan. As of April 30, 2022, cumulative deliveries reached 197,912 vehicles. This was the first complete month delivering the sedan model NIO ET7.

“In late March and April 2022, the Company’s vehicle production and delivery have been impacted by the supply chain volatilities and other constraints caused by a new wave of the COVID-19 outbreaks in certain regions in China. The vehicle production has been recovering gradually. The Company will closely monitor the situation and its impact to the Company’s business and financial conditions, and continue to work with its supply chain partners to accelerate the recovery of production to its full capacity,” the company said.

On April 14, NIO said that the production at the Hefei factory was “gradually backing to normal” after being suspended during 6 days. The electric vehicle maker had announced on April 9 the suspension of the vehicles production due to Covid-19 measures that forced NIO’s suppliers in Jilin (Shanghai) to stop production forcing the company to suspend the production of its vehicles.

The 25,768 vehicles delivered during Q1 2022 represent a 2.93% increase quarter-over-quarter. In December 2021, NIO‘s CEO said that the ~100% Deliveries growth Year-over-year “is expected to be maintained in 2022”. The ambitious goal would result in an amazing year for the company with ~182,000 units delivered. Although, with the expectations for Q1 2022 of only 25,000-26,000 units, the Electric vehicle manufacturer will need an average of 52,000 units during the next 3 quarters in order to reach 182,000 units by the end of the year.

NIO unveiled on Friday that the first batch of NIO ET5 model production line trial vehicles officially rolled off the production line at NEO Park. The construction of the production base started on April 29, 2021, and it took only one year from the breaking of ground to the commissioning of the first batch of full-process production lines, NIO said. The CEO William Li, congratulated the team and said “This is the speed of Hefei and the speed of NIO”.

Last week, NIO reached a total of 500 vehicles delivered in Norway since its debut on September 30, 2021. Until now, only the ES8 Model is available but the sedan announced during NIO Day in December 2020 is arriving to the country in the last quarter of 2022.
