The electric vehicle maker NIO reached on Wednesday a total of 500 vehicles delivered in Norway since its debut on September 30, 2021. Until now, only the ES8 Model is available but the sedan announced during NIO Day in December 2020 is arriving to the country in the last quarter of 2022. The Scandinavian country has been the entrance point to the European market for many automakers due to its strong EV adoption.

The company opened its first european Battery Swap Station near Oslo, where it is located also the first european NIO House. NIO‘s CEO William Li and NIO’s Manager of Norway, were gathered there with 20 NIO users back in January where they confirmed the arrival of the ET7 sedan to the country in Q4 2022. When it comes to NIO ET5, the model with 1,000km range will be available in Norway (and several other global markets) during the Spring of 2023.

During Q1 2022, the company sold a total of 245 vehicles in the Nordic country, up 45% when compared to the previous quarter. NIO opened in January its first Battery Swap Station in Europe and plans to have 20 Stations in five different Norwegian cities by the end of the year.

From March 2021 to the end of the year, the average percentage of Electric Vehicles sold in the Norwegian Market was 67.3% (total of 65% in 2021) which means more than 2 out of 3 vehicles sold in Norway was an EV. Compared to the same period in 2020, it increased 27.22% and represented 52.9% of the entire market that year.

Norway has closed 2021 with an impressive monthly record: during December 2021,  90.0% of the vehicles sold were rechargeable. The advantage is clear with only 10% for the other types of vehicles sold. Overall they were sold 20,567 units during the last month of 2021.

Earlier this week, NIO announced the 200,000th vehicle produced reaching “the second 100,000 units in only one year, once again setting the industry speed”. When announcing March 2022 and Q1 deliveries numbers on April 1, the company disclosed that cumulative deliveries of vehicles as of March 31, 2022 were 192,838 units.

Last week, a white NIO ET7 Model was seen charging in Munich, Germany. The vehicle was using a charger from EWE Go Station, a German subsidiary of the fifth-largest energy supplier in the country, EWE AG.
