Premium electric vehicle (EV) maker Lucid Motors, which is currently present in the U.S., Canada, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and four European markets, is expanding into several new markets this year.
Lucid’s Middle East chief, Faisal Sultan, previously confirmed that the Saudi-backed automaker is preparing to enter additional markets within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.
The company revealed on Friday, at the Brussels Auto Show, that it is expanding also in Europe — as exclusively reported by EV on December 23.
Lucid’s recently appointed managing director for the European region, Lawrence Hamilton confirmed on Friday on LinkedIn the EV maker is “continuing market expansion in Europe with an announcement at the Brussels Auto Show.”
“A great day at Lucid. We announced our continuing market expansion in Europe with an announcement at the Brussels Auto Show,” Lucid’s executive wrote. “Even better, we have the outstanding Lucid Air Sapphire on show. 1,251 horsepower and range of 694 km’s. The future is going to be great.”
In December, the company sold five vehicles in the Swiss market, twenty in Germany, and six in the Netherlands. Aiming to increase brand awareness in the old continent, the company will soon start a tour with mobile pop-up stores as it continues expanding its retail network.
Before the end of March, Lucid will expand its European lineup with the luxurious Sapphire variant of its Air sedan. The company also plans to introduce its Gravity SUV in early 2026, with orders opening this summer. A midsized model priced below $50,000 is expected to go into production in late 2026 and arrive in Europe in 2027.
Last month, Managing Director for Europe Alexander Lutz left after one year in the role. He was replaced by Hamilton, who had been leading Hyundai’s Genesis brand in Europe for more than two years.
Commenting on Lucid’s first participation at the Brussels Auto Show (which opened this Friday, Jan. 10), the Hamilton wrote, “It’s also great to be back at a well-attended show by consumers and many brands. Well done Belgium!”
“It shows there is a lot of life left in the auto show platform and customers still find an auto show useful and exciting. Cars (and particularly Lucid’s) are a tactile and emotional product. There is no substitute for seeing the real thing,” he added.
The motor show will feature 63 car brands, including Tesla and BYD but also EV startups like XPeng and the Stellantis-backed Leapmotor.
