“In light of ongoing supply challenges across the industry, achieving a best-ever August sales performance is a testament to the strength of our product lineup, our dealers and our employees,” said Eric Watson, vice president, sales operations, Kia America.
“We are optimistic that production through the end of the year will improve and further the success of our all-new Sportage, EV6, upcoming redesigned Telluride and more,” he added.
“Sales of the Sorento SUV increased by 114-percent year-over-year; and sales of the current generation Telluride continued strong increasing 18-percent year-over-year and just months before the highly anticipated 2023 version arrives in dealers,” the automaker said.
In June, KIA‘s first fully electric model KIA EV6 was named the winner of a Wards 10 Best Interiors & UX award. At the time, the automaker said that over 10,000 EV6 models have been sold throughout the U.S., contributing to the 132-percent growth in sales of Kia’s electrified vehicles over the previous May record set in 2021.

Recently, the automaker announced the arrival of the 2023 Niro model to Canada with three electrified powertrains: hybrid electric (HEV), plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and all-electric (BEV).
Second-generation Niro will debut in three options further advancing Kia’s Plan S electrification initiative of bringing 7 all-new electrified models to the country by 2025. Specification and pricing details for Canada will be announced closer to launch, KIA said.
Recently, KIA launched a new campaign for its fully electric EV6 model comparing it with the best selling Tesla Model Y. In the newsletter, KIA introduces the comparison saying: “How Kia EV6 compares to Tesla Model Y. KIA EV6 goes beyond,” enhancing the lower price, longer range and some more differences.
