Geely Holding Group‘s premium brand Zeekr will reveal its flagship 9X plug-in hybrid SUV in Europe on Wednesday (July 29), just a day after the five-seat version of the model debuted in China.
The unveiling comes about two weeks after the company expanded the availability of its 7GT shooting brake to 16 countries across the continent.
Earlier on Tuesday, Zeekr launched a five-seat version of the 9X in China, its domestic market.
Zeekr Europe announced the livestream on LinkedIn, writing that a “new kind of luxury needs a new kind of leader.” The European reveal is set for 09:00 CEST on Wednesday.
Photos accompanying the post show the 9X SUV, confirming the flagship hybrid as the model headed for Europe.
The timeline aligns with guidance provided by Geely’s executive Gan Jiayue, who said in late April that the 9X would begin overseas exports in June, starting with the Middle East and followed by Central Asia in the third quarter and Europe in the fourth quarter.
Zeekr‘s European retail and service network has grown rapidly over the past year.
The brand entered Italy in February 2025 through a partnership with Jameel Motors and expanded to Spain and Portugal through Salvador Caetano later that month.
France followed, bringing the total to 16 active markets.
Additionally, European chief Lothar Schupet told Reuters in January that the company planned to enter the United Kingdom later in 2026.
Zeekr 9X
The 9X is Zeekr‘s first plug-in hybrid and its largest model, built on the SEA-R platform with Geely‘s Haohan hybrid system and a 900-volt high-voltage architecture.
Pure electric range under China’s CLTC cycle sits at 288 to 300 km for the smaller pack and 355 to 380 km for the larger one, with combined fuel-and-electric range reaching up to 1,250 km.
Seating layouts include a six-seat configuration in a 2+2+2 three-row arrangement, with boot space ranges from 470 litres with all seats up to 2,148 litres with the third row folded.
Pricing in China starts at 465,900 yuan ($68,600) for the six-seat entry trim, rising to approximately 600,000 yuan ($88,300) for the highest specifications.
It is unclear whether the European variant will retain the same specs as the Chinese version.
In the European luxury SUV segment, the 9X is expected compete against established models including the BMW X7, Mercedes-Benz GLS and JLR‘s Range Rover, all of which occupy a similar price band and size class.
XPeng‘s recently launched GX — another Chinese three-row SUV targeting the premium segment — could also arrive in Europe on a similar timeline, adding to the competitive pressure from domestic rivals expanding overseas.
Five-Seat 9X in China
Separately, Zeekr launched a five-seat version of the 9X earlier on Tuesday with a limited-time starting price of 451,900 yuan ($66,800).
Three variants are available — the Ultra, Hyper and Obsidian Black editions — with retail prices of 471,900 yuan, 545,900 yuan and 585,900 yuan, respectively.
After limited-time incentives, effective starting prices fall to 451,900 yuan, 525,900 yuan and 565,900 yuan.
The entry price sits below the 465,900-yuan starting price of the six-seat version, which launched in September 2025.
The move mirrors a similar strategy by rival Nio, which launched a five-seat version of its ES8 SUV on July 9 after the six-seat and seven-seat configurations had sustained strong sales for several months.
Both brands are seeking to widen the buyer pool for their flagship SUVs by offering a configuration that prioritises rear-seat space and passenger comfort over third-row capacity.
The 9X is currently facing weakening momentum at home.
Deliveries fell to 6,382 units in June, down 24.4% from the previous month and marking a third consecutive month-on-month decline after peaking at 10,191 units in March.
The model accounted for 18.2% of Zeekr‘s total deliveries in June, down from a peak of 31.3% in December 2025.
Cumulative deliveries in the first half of 2026 reached 46,869 units, with total sales since launch approaching 70,000, according to data published earlier this month by China’s Passenger Car Association.
Other Zeekr Models
The European tease follows a significant expansion of the Zeekr 007 shooting brake across the continent.
Zeekr announced earlier this month that the model — renamed locally as the Zeekr 7 GT — is now available in 16 countries, with a starting price of €45,990 ($52,300) across most markets.
The brand already sells the Zeekr 001, Zeekr X compact SUV and Zeekr 7X SUV across a similar, though narrower, set of markets.
Zeekr described the 7GT as a “technology shooting brake coupe” and said the model brings a Chinese shooting brake back to Europe, the segment’s historical home.
