Electric vehicle maker Polestar saw its sales soar to a new record in the United Kingdom during September with the Geely-owned company selling 2,429 vehicles.
The result represents a 114 percent growth from September last year as the country registers a 24.4 percent increase in registrations of battery electric vehicles (BEV) to 56,387 units.
The company has recently announced the switch from a direct sales model at its showrooms — known as Spaces — to a dealer network model with the UK being among the first European markets to adopt the change.
For the third quarter of the year, Polestar registered 3,619 vehicles, 400 units more than a year ago, according to the latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
The company has currently nine stores in the UK and plans to nearly double to 17 over the next one and a half years.
The Polestar 4 has recently been launched in the UK. Prices for the brand’s fastest car yet start from £59,990 for the single-motor model while the dual-motor variant starts at £66,990, equivalent to about $89,000.
The company has recently delivered the first units of the Polestar 3 at its headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Polestar started offering a new entry-level variant for the SUV with the introduction of a new Long Range Single Motor variant.
The company delivered “approximately 13,000” units in the second quarter of the year with the figures from the third quarter expected to be released early next week.
Earlier this year, Volvo Cars reduced its stake in Polestar to 18 percent after being pointed out that the investment in the pure EV maker was affecting the company financials.
