Polestar, the electric vehicle manufacturer, has commenced production of its luxury SUV, the Polestar 3, at its facility in South Carolina, USA.
The company has recently delivered the first units of the Polestar 3 at its headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden. Earlier in the day, the company said it would start offering a new entry-level variant for the SUV with the introduction of a new Long Range Single Motor variant.
Within one year, the company aims to start production of Polestar 4 in South Korea. Besides Chengdu, China, the EV maker from the Geely Holding Group will be able to avoid the recently announced extra tariffs on China-made electric vehicles.

The South Carolina factory will supply Polestar 3 vehicles to customers in the United States and Europe. The SUV becomes the brand’s first model to be produced on two continents.
Polestar’s CEO Thomas Ingenlath highlighted “superb reviews” from the media while teasing that the model has “a strong” interest in test drives.
“Manufacturing Polestar 3 in the USA is a crucial step for us. Now we offer customers in America an electric SUV that is built in America. Exporting the South Carolina produced Polestar 3 to Europe will strengthen our business on a broader scope. Polestar 3 has received superb reviews from global automotive media, with strong customer test drive interest.”
“I strongly believe this is the best looking and best driving SUV in the market today,” he added.
The brand under China’s Geely Holding Group registered 816 vehicles in the United Kingdom during July, down from the 1,300 units a year ago.
The result represents a decline of 37.23% while its competitor Tesla registered 2,462 units, down 21.62% year over year.
According to official data from the German and the Australian markets, Polestar registrations in July dropped 59.9% and 70%, respectively. In Germany, the company registered 422 vehicles while in Australia it sold 103 units.
The brand’s first fully electric model, Polestar 2, has also now a refreshed version, featuring design updates, a revamped pack structure, increased range, and more individual options as it aims to increase the model’s competitiveness.
