US: Ford sells 3,120 Mustang Mach-E in August, up 115% year over year

The Detroit automaker Ford announced on Friday the sales numbers from August 2022 in the U.S. reporting a total of 158,088 vehicles delivered, 151,695 from Ford and 6,393 from the Lincoln brand.

In the U.S., Ford sold 83,347 trucks (up 13.2% YoY), 71,201 SUVs (+47.7%) and 5,897 electric vehicles, up 307% from August 2021.

When it comes to its pure electric model Mustang Mach-E, Ford sold 3,120 units, up 115 percent from August 2021 reporting a new record of retail orders with more than 7,800 units for the month of August. 

Andrew Frick, Ford’s VP, Sales, Distribution & Trucks, Ford Blue commented, “F-Series was America’s best-selling truck, best-selling hybrid truck and bestselling electric truck with F-150 Lightning in August. Ford’s overall electric vehicle portfolio expanded four-fold in August while conquesting from competitors at a rate over 60 percent”.

“The all-new electric F-150 Lightning had its best month since launch, while sales of our gas engine lineup grew 25%, electric vehicles 307% and hybrids achieved a new August sales record with 7,302 vehicles sold,” he added.

Recently, Ford CEO Jim Farley & Executive Chair Bill Ford sent an internal e-mail to employees notifying them of the job cuts affecting about 3,000 people primarily in the U.S and Canada.

According to the report, the cut will affect 2,000 salaried and 1,000 agency jobs, and employees will now be notified of the cut, which takes effect on the first day of September.

Recently, Electrify America announced a charging agreement with Ford to allow F-150 Lightning owners to receive 250 kilowatt-hours of complimentary charging at its ultra-fast charging stations in the U.S.
