XPeng Sells 6,900 Vehicles in China During October’s Second Week

XPeng registered 6,900 vehicles in its domestic market between October 6 and 12, according to registration data shared on Chinese social media this Tuesday.

The figures represent a slight increase from the 6,460 units sold during the week ending on October 5.

Registrations are typically lower at the start of each month and each quarter.

In addition, the past two weeks’ figures were affected by the Chinese Golden Week holidays, which impacted both production and sales between October 1 and October 8.

Last week, Huawei-backed Aito registered 8,500 vehicles, while the Stellantis-backed brand Leapmotor recorded 9,300 units, placing below Tesla, which sold 11,300 units.

Tech giant Xiaomi registered 7,400 vehicles, and was followed by Shanghai-based Nio Group, with 7,050 vehicles.

Of those, 2,800 were from its main premium brand. Onvo vehicles represented 3,300 units and Firefly sold 950 EVs.

About a month after announcing that its expanding its Mona series overseas, the company said on Monday it has shipped the first Mona M03 units to the Middle East and North Africa region.

XPeng aims to double its presence in international markets — from 30 to 60 markets in a year.

In the first nine months of the year, it has entered over 20 regions, with the latest having been Lithuania and Latvia earlier this month.

Last week, XPeng filed for approval to sell new range-extended electric versions of its P7+ sedan and G6 SUV in China, according to China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

The models join the G7 SUV and the X9 multi-purpose van (MPV), both of which will also be offered with hybrid powertrains.

XPeng announced on Tuesday that P7+ deliveries have surpassed 80,000 cumulative units, after being launched in November 2024.

The vehicle, which the brand calls the first AI-defined car in the world, has ranked first in the 150,000-200,000 yuan ($21,000-28,000) mid-size electric sedan segment for the past ten months.

The company further announced that the X9 ranked as the best-selling electric multi-purpose van last month in Thailand, Malaysia and Hong Kong.

XPeng delivered over 40,000 vehicles in September, totaling 313,000 vehicles year to date.

The company is only 67,000 vehicles — or 10% — away from reaching its annual goal of 380,000 deliveries.

According to data published by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), the Mona M03 accounted for nearly 35% of its deliveries, with 14,546 vehicles.

The recently launched new P7 represented 8,110 units in September, a fivefold increase from its figures a year ago.

The G7 SUV, on the other hand, saw deliveries tumble 56.5% month over month to 2,968 vehicles, two months after its release in China.
