XPeng to Enter Croatia, Hungary and Slovenia with Three EV Models

Less than two weeks after signing agreements to enter Italy, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, the Chinese carmaker XPeng is now expanding to three new markets in Europe.

The Hungarian group AutoWallis said on Monday it will become the brand’s exclusive distributor in Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia.

The launch is planned for “this autumn.” XPeng plans to enter new markets with three models, including the recently updated G6 and G9 SUVs, as well as the P7 sedan.

All three vehicles received facelifted versions in recent months, with production of earlier iterations now discontinued. It remains unclear, however, when the updated models will be introduced in XPeng’s European markets.

“AutoWallis – in strategic partnership with the Salvador Caetano Group – has secured exclusive distribution rights for the innovative XPeng car brand for Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia,” the Budapest-based group wrote on LinkedIn.

Salvador Caetano became in early 2024 the brand’s official importer and distribution partner for Portugal and Spain.

“XPeng will bring 3 models – its flagship G9 SUV, the ultrasmart G6 crossover SUV and the sporty P7 sedan – to Europe when it starts operations this autumn,” AutoWallis added.

XPeng aims to double the number of markets it operates in globally to 60 by the end of 2025.

The brand led by He Xiaopeng said earlier this month that it partnered with PlugSurfing to provide its customers with access to 940,000 electric vehicle charging points across Europe.

The charging network spans 27 countries and includes over 500 charge point operators, according to the company.

XPeng exported 7,615 vehicles in the first quarter, up 370% from a year earlier, according to a post by XPeng CEO He Xiaopeng.

The company said it ranked first in sales among emerging new energy vehicle brands in nine European countries including Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands, Ireland, Finland, Portugal and Belgium.

In April, XPeng delivered 35,045 vehicles globally, a year-on-year increase of 273%.

In China, and as reported earlier this Tuesday, XPeng sold 5,700 vehicles between May 19 and 25 — down 1.9% from the 5,810 units recorded in the second full week of May.
