Electric vehicle maker XPeng has launched two new models in the last three months, the Mona M03 and a new flagship sedan P7+.
Launched on August 27, the M03 became XPeng’s most affordable model to date and is part of the Mona series, which, according to founder and CEO Xiaopeng He, is designed to appeal to a younger, tech-focused audience.
Despite having locked in over 10,000 orders in less than an hour and more than 30,000 orders a few days after the event, not everything has been running smoothly.
XPeng delivered over 10,000 units of the Mona M03 in September which played a crucial role in its new monthly record of 21,352 EVs delivered.

However, the surge in demand has led to significant delivery delays, frustrating both the automaker and its customers.
According to recent reports from several Chinese media outlets, customers who placed orders for the MONA M03 in September have voiced concerns about repeated delays in receiving their vehicles.
Estimated delivery times have now been pushed to between early December and January 2025.
The timing of these delays is particularly problematic for consumers hoping to qualify for local government car purchase subsidies, many of which expire on the last day of the year.
To apply for these subsidies, customers need their vehicle’s chassis number, and the extended wait times could cause many to miss out.
In response to the complaints, an XPeng spokesperson admitted that there is pressure on the production capacity before guaranteeing that a third production expansion will take place later this month.
“The demand for the XPeng MONA has exceeded expectations, and there is indeed pressure on deliveries. XPeng Motors expanded production twice in September and will begin a third production expansion in October,” XPeng’s representative said.
“For users who may experience delivery delays, XPeng Motors is offering 1,500 XPeng Mall points per day per vehicle as compensation,” the spokesperson added.
XPeng started pre-sales for the P7+ at the 2024 Paris Motor Show last week with the pre-sale price set at 209,800 yuan ($29,530). Customers who pay a 99 yuan deposit will receive a RMB 3,000 yuan discount, equivalent to $422.
Earlier this week, XPeng reported receiving 30,000 pre-sale orders for the model within one hour and 48 minutes of the Paris debut.
The company plans to expand deliveries to overseas markets next year, with a goal of operating in 60 markets by the end of 2025.
