Tesla‘s new-car registrations rose 69% in October across seven European markets reported so far, extending the region’s recovery into the fourth quarter, while sales in the Netherlands nearly halved.

The company registered 6,742 vehicles in France, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Romania, the Netherlands and Denmark combined, up from 3,985 a year earlier, according to national registration data compiled by EV.

Registrations more than doubled in Norway, Spain and Sweden and rose 35% in France, the largest of the seven markets.

The gains came against weak comparisons. October 2025 was one of Tesla’s worst months in Europe, with registrations depressed across the region and hit in Sweden by a union strike.

Norway

Norway was Tesla’s second-largest market of the seven, behind France. Registrations rose 130.7% to 1,548 from 671, according to the Norwegian Road Federation (OFV), giving Tesla a 9.8% share of a market that grew 41.2% to 15,725 vehicles.

The Model Y accounted for 1,429 of those registrations, up 141.4% from 592, while the Model 3 rose 50.6% to 119, OFV data show. Tesla was Norway’s top-selling brand in the month, only 55 cars ahead of Toyota with 1,493.

“The race at the top is close, and car buyers have many new brands and models to choose from,” OFV Chief Executive Officer Geir Inge Stokke said.

Tesla’s month was heavily back-loaded. The company had only 125 registrations in the first 18 days of October, while 1,074 new Teslas were registered from October 26 to 31, nearly one in five new cars in that period, OFV said.

Tesla remains Norway’s best-selling brand this year, with 21,523 registrations through October and a 16.4% share, ahead of Toyota with 14,127. Its year-to-date total is still 3.9% below the 22,391 it registered in the same period of 2025.

Chinese brands took 22.5% of Norway’s new passenger-car registrations in October, up from 16.9% a year earlier and the highest share they have reached in a single month, according to OFV. XPeng was the fifth-largest brand with 932 registrations, up from 376, while BYD registered 816.

Battery-electric cars took 98.8% of the market, which posted its highest October total in more than 30 years.

Spain and Sweden

In Spain, Tesla registrations rose 271.2% to 1,459 from 393, according to data from the ANFAC carmakers’ association.

The Model 3 was Spain’s best-selling electric car in October, according to registration data from the DGT traffic authority. BYD still registered more than three times as many cars as Tesla, with 5,306 units, up 89.1%, ranking fifth among all brands, ANFAC data show.

In Sweden, they climbed 248% to 463 from 133 a year earlier, when Tesla’s sales there were hit by the strike, according to Mobility Sweden.

Tesla took 1.9% of the Swedish market and 3.7% of battery-electric sales, as electric cars reached 51.1% of the total, Roland Pircher, who tracks Tesla’s European registrations on X, wrote.

The Model Y made up 71% of Tesla’s Swedish registrations. Sweden’s overall market reached 24,660 cars, with fully electric registrations up 45%, according to Mobility Sweden.

Tesla’s Swedish registrations in the first ten months are up 49% from a year earlier and already exceed its full-year 2025 total by 20%, according to Pircher.

Romania and Denmark

Romania reported 389 Tesla registrations in October, up 50% from a year earlier and the brand’s best October in the country, Pircher wrote. That gave Tesla a 3.2% share of the overall market and 26% of a battery-electric segment that accounts for 12.3% of sales.

Unlike in most markets, the Model 3 led in Romania, with 68% of Tesla’s registrations.

In Denmark, Tesla registrations rose 34.3% to 137 vehicles, according to Bilstatistik. The brand took just 0.73% of the market, behind Chinese brands BYD, Leapmotor and XPeng and SAIC-owned MG, which each held between 1.6% and 5.5%, according to the same data.

Tesla passed 100,000 cars on Danish roads in September.

The Netherlands

The Netherlands was the exception. Tesla registered 336 vehicles there in October, down 48% from a year earlier, Pircher wrote. Tesla registered 645 cars in the country in October 2025, according to data from industry groups RAI Vereniging and BOVAG.

Tesla’s share fell to 1% of a Dutch market that shrank 3.5% to 33,061 cars, according to BOVAG. Fully electric vehicles took 55.2% of the total, with 18,243 registrations, of which Tesla held 1.8%.

The Model Y accounted for 83% of its registrations. BYD registered 674 cars in the Netherlands in October, twice as many as Tesla.

Tesla’s Dutch registrations are up 7% so far this year but stand at 69% of its full-year 2025 total, according to Pircher.

France

Tesla registered 2,410 cars in France in October, up 35.2% from 1,782 a year earlier, according to industry data cited by Auto Infos. That was far below the 9,038 it registered in September, the final month of the third quarter.

Its French registrations through October more than doubled, up 117.1% to 47,609.

The overall market grew 7% to 149,341 cars with one fewer working day than a year earlier, according to the PFA automotive industry body. Fully electric models took 41.5% of registrations.

BYD registered 5,419 cars in France in October, more than twice Tesla’s total, and entered the top 10 brands with a 3.6% share.

The Model Y registered 1,748 units, up 6.2% from a year earlier, but slipped to eighth place among electric cars, as Renault’s new Twingo led the segment, Auto Infos reported, citing AAA Data. Electric car registrations in France totaled 61,958.

A Strong Start to Q4

October is usually Tesla’s weakest month of each quarter in Europe, as the company concentrates deliveries toward quarter-end.

This year’s first month of the quarter was stronger than the last. Tesla’s Swedish registrations were 612% above July, the first month of the third quarter, and Romania’s were up 289%, according to Pircher. The Netherlands was 6% below July.

Pircher’s weekly tracker, which covers countries that report daily or weekly data and that he estimates account for about 60% of Tesla’s European sales, showed the fourth quarter running 55.9% above a year earlier after four weeks, as of October 25. Year-to-date sales were up 17.8%, he wrote.

Tesla delivered 486,532 vehicles worldwide in the third quarter. Tesla said in its third-quarter update that it “ended the quarter with the largest backlog for our passenger vehicles in four years,” and that battery availability remained the limiting factor on output.

Supply in Europe is also rising. Giga Berlin, which builds the Model Y for the region, produced 7,000 cars in a single week in October, a plant record.

Tesla’s supervised driver-assistance system, sold in Europe as Tesla Assisted Driving, has been approved in 10 EU countries, most recently Latvia, on the basis of a Dutch approval. Italy has backed a bloc-wide approval ahead of a December vote by member states.

Its larger European markets report later. Germany, where Tesla’s registrations in September hit their highest since 2022, and Britain, where they nearly doubled in September, are due later this week.
