Onvo began rolling out on Tuesday a new software update to its ‘Coconut’ operating system, featuring a smarter in-car voice assistant, an improved driving experience, and a slightly increased range through software-based energy optimization.
According to the company, the energy management algorithm has been upgraded “to improve cruising range under multiple driving modes,” which balances performance “between power and efficiency.”
The update, available for both L60 and L90 models, increases range by 5–10 km on the CLTC cycle and lowers energy consumption by 0.1–0.3 kWh per 100 km.
Both Onvo models feature 60 kWh or 85 kWh powertrains and are available in both Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) and All-Wheel Drive (AWD) versions.
The family-oriented brand says a vehicle with an 85 kWh RWD motor and 19″ wheels can now achieve 740 km of range, an increase of 10 km with the new update.
The smallest improvement was seen in the 60 kWh AWD model with 20″ wheels, where range increased by 4 km, reaching 505 km.
Additionally, the update introduces the ‘Adaptive Assistance’ mode, which offers “more precise control over acceleration, braking, and cornering,” according to the release notes.
The update also optimizes performance in various weather and road conditions, improving traction and overall safety.
Version 2.0.6 of the ‘Coconut’ operating system highlights an even smarter ‘XiaoLe’ voice assistant.
The update enhances deep learning capabilities, allowing the assistant to better understand and adapt to user habits and preferences.
In August, Onvo rolled out the 2.0.0 version of the ‘Coconut’ system, which launched a new user interface and several driving experience and smart capabilities updates.
Onvo recently launched the second generation L60, after debuting its second model, the L90, in late July.
Deliveries started over the weekend, according to the brand chief Fei Shen.
In the last few days, the brand reached 30,000 L90 units delivered in just 86 days.
Deliveries of the L90 started on the first day of August across 44 cities.
Last week, the Nio Group — including both the premium brand, Onvo and Firefly — delivered about 10,300 electric vehicles in China, the second consecutive week above the 10,000 mark as production ramp up of the best selling models continues.
Onvo delivered about 4,500 units, according to CarFans platform founder Sun Shaojun.
Earlier this month, Nio‘s founder and CEO William Li said that the company remains focused on raising sales of the Nio ES8 and Onvo L90, improving supply chain stability and cost control, and ensuring timely software updates.
