Nio’s Sub-Brand Onvo Starts Deliveries of Gen-2 L60 in China

Nio‘s family-oriented sub-brand Onvo has started over the weekend deliveries of the revamped L60, five weeks after unveiling the second generation of the five seat SUV.

The information was shared on Weibo by the brand’s chief Fei Shen, who wrote that “these past few days, the new Onvo L60 has been gradually delivered to customers across the country.”

As the new version was released in mid-September, management described it as a minor facelift, designed to boost demand for the original model.

Facelifts are becoming increasingly frequent in China’s highly competitive new energy vehicle market, with the time between updates shrinking rapidly.

The new iteration offers new wheel choices, a gold exterior paint option, and slightly better efficiency.

Two new interior colors — Bantan Brown and Cloud Beige — are being introduced, the same options offered in July with the brand’s second model, the three-row L90 SUV.

Among new accessories, a fold-out tray table mounted behind the passenger seat is now available.

According to Fei Shen, “the reasons for choosing the Onvo L60 vary, but the spacious interior, battery-swapping capability, and overall build quality are the top factores winning users over.”

Pre-orders for the new version of the five seat SUV started on September 19, with prices remaining unchanged from the first-generation model.

The single-motor version equipped with a 60-kWh battery is priced at 206,900 yuan ($29,000), while the dual-motor variant costs 226,900 yuan ($31,900).

Under Nio‘s battery-as-a-service (BaaS) program, the entry price drops to 149,900 yuan ($21,050) for the single-motor configuration and 169,900 yuan ($23,900) for the dual-motor version.

Customers who choose this plan pay a monthly battery rental fee of 599 yuan ($84).

Fei Shen also noted over the weekend that Onvo reached 100,000 total deliveries in the prior week, while “production capacity has increased significantly this month.”

Of those, 30,000 are L90s — a milestone the model reached over the weekend, just three months after launch.

“We’re working at full speed to accelerate deliveries,” the executive added, after the brand stated that the L90 is on track to surpass 10,000 monthly deliveries for the third consecutive time.

The Nio Group is targeting 150,000 units delivered across the Nio, Onvo and Firefly brands for this quarter.

Last month, Onvo said it is “coordinating its supply chain, manufacturing, and logistics” for production of the model, as the Shanghai-based company is also ramping up the output of its recently launched L90 and ES8 SUVs.

The company, founded and led by William Li, is focused on ensuring the fastest delivery of its three-row vehicles in the last months of the year.

To reduce order cancellations for its newly launched models — including the ES8, L90, and the updated L60 — Nio has introduced a new “Waiting Points” system that rewards customers with points for each day their vehicle delivery is delayed.

According to this system, “if a customer cannot pick up the car within 4 weeks due to reasons related to the Onvo brand, the company will provide ‘L60 Waiting Points’ at 500 points/day.”
