Earlier this week, the electric vehicle maker Nio posted a new weekly record for insured units in China for the second consecutive week, with 10,700 vehicles registered between December 23 and 29.
Registration of Nio models increased sequentially by 20.4% from 5,400 to 6,500 vehicles. Of those, the ET5 sedan and its shooting wagon version ET5 Touring sold a total of 2,415 units.
Earlier this week, the Dutch platform ‘e-Drivers’ revealed that the model won the award in the middle-class category for EV models priced between €35,000 ($36,120) and €75,000 ($77,400).
The entry-level SUV ES6, known as the EL6 in European markets, recorded sales of 2,402 units. The five-seater SUV ES7 saw only four units sold, while the flagship SUV ES8 achieved sales of 333 units.
The Coupe SUVs EC6 and EC7 sold 936 and 107 units, respectively — according to the automotive platform ‘智能汽车’.

The Onvo brand sold 4,155 units of its debut model L60 after it added a new battery supplier to tackle supply disruption. The brand plans to launch two new SUVs in the Chinese market later this year.
Earlier this week, Nio said it delivered 31,138 electric vehicles in December, a new monthly record for the Shanghai-based carmaker. Deliveries included 20,610 units from the Nio brand and 10,528 from its second brand, Onvo.
In 2024, Nio’s sales increased by 38.7% to 221,970 units. Starting in April 2025, Nio’s third brand, Firefly, is planned to begin deliveries in China in late April, with the company projecting 50,000 deliveries for the year.
Nio aims to double its deliveries this year, targeting over 442,000 units, driven largely by its mass-market brands Onvo and Firefly.
As confirmed earlier this month by Nio’s chief executive, the company’s third EV manufacturing plant is planned to begin production in the third quarter of next year. The factory is located in Huainan, Hefei, where Nio’s two existing factories are also situated.
