The EV manufacturer NIO announced Wednesday the partnership with the Formula Student Germany that will be held on August 15-21 at the famous Hockenheim Circuit.

Since 2011, Chinese and German formula university students have had many exchanges with the two sides selecting “outstanding teams and players to participate in the competition, competing with top teams from all over the world and swaying their blood”, NIO said.

Ralph Kranz, general manager of NIO Germany, said: “NIO has long supported the development of Chinese college students, and we are very pleased to be able to continue this career in Germany this year. ”

Similar to the Chinese formula for college students, the German Formula for College Students is a formula racing design competition for college students around the world. Students need to independently design, manufacture, and test a formula one racing car every year.

Teams with more mature technology can also participate in an independent ”Driverless Cup“ , using driverless systems to complete more complex projects, NIO said.

Besides testing the design and performance of the team’s vehicles, the students also conduct a comprehensive assessment of the commercial marketing, cost control, investment promotion and other capabilities of the participating teams.

As reported by EV on Sunday, NIO‘s second Battery Swap Station in Norway is ready to open and the inauguration will be on August 15 at Vestby. The station is located at Svarthagsveien 1, 1540 Vestby, between Oslo and Gothenburg.
