NIO opens orders for the 2022 ES8, ES6, and EC6 models, deliveries start in August

The EV maker NIO announced on Monday that opened the orders of the 2022 ES8, ES6, and EC6 models. The upgraded versions were unveiled last week during NIO’s product launch event with the arrival time to NIO Houses expected for July and the beginning of the deliveries for August.

The new versions are already equipped with Qualcomm 8155 chip digital cockpit computing platform and with NIO’s intelligent system Alder featuring higher computing, better perception and more powerful connectivity.

Multi-screen interaction features the NOMI, the 9.8-inch instrument cluster with ultra-slim frame, the second-generation 11.3-inch multi-touch center display and HUD. Alder is equipped with the cutting-edge Qualcomm 8155 digital cockpit platform, and compatible with 5G connectivity.

The digital system brings a two times faster CPU and GPU, HD surround view in 3D perspective, 5G technology , a faster NOMI assistance being 55% faster launching apps from cold standby, and many more upgrades. The 2022 versions of the three models will use already Alder and the deliveries are expected for August 2022, two months from now.

“The sensing units of NIO Digital System ALDER are comprehensively upgraded including one 8MP high-resolution dash camera. The four 3MP enhanced cameras for surround view and have clearer image quality. The side mirrors are also upgraded, improving the vertical FOV by 24% and enabling a longer detection range. The 2.5MP cabin camera offers you a better in-car selfie experience”, William Li said.

The state subsidies available to users who purchase 2022 ES8, ES6, and EC6 models and pick up the car in 2022 are 11,340 yuan for the 75kWh battery pack and 12,600 yuan for the 100kWh battery pack.

The company hosted on Tuesday morning a product launch event where it launched a new medium five-seater SUV with an NT2.0 platform, NIO ES7. The model was rated a five-star safety of C-NCAP and Euro NCAP tests, a Cd of 0.263 and a tarting price of RMB 468,000 ($69,700 USD).

With an estimated range of 930km (simulated estimate according to the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle), NIO ES7 has a breaking distance 100-0km/h of 33.9m, one of the best results in the category, as said by William Li during the presentation.

The exhibition cars and test drives are expected to arrive Chinese stores in late July and the electric tow hook is expected to be available for optional installation in August, and its delivery will start as early as September 2022. The company gave no timeline for the arrival of the SUV to the European Market.

On the first day of June, NIO reported 7,024 vehicles delivered in May showing an increase year-over-year and also from the previous month, when delivered 5,074 units. On NIO App, William Li answered to customers and enthusiasts saying “Thank you all! We will continue to work hard in June”.
