The electric vehicle maker NIO hosted an online product launch event on Wednesday unveiling the new five-seater SUV model NIO ES7, the 2022 versions of the ES6, ES8, and EC6 models but also a new digital system called Alder.
The digital system brings a two times faster CPU and GPU, HD surround view in 3D perspective, 5G technology , a faster NOMI assistance being 55% faster launching apps from cold standby, and many more upgrades. The 2022 versions of the three models will use already Alder and the deliveries are expected for August 2022, two months from now.

“The sensing units of NIO Digital System ALDER are comprehensively upgraded including one 8MP high-resolution dash camera. The four 3MP enhanced cameras for surround view and have clearer image quality. The side mirrors are also upgraded, improving the vertical FOV by 24% and enabling a longer detection range. The 2.5MP cabin camera offers you a better in-car selfie experience”, William Li said.

“Alder’s digital cockpit domain controller is equipped with the new Qualcomm 8155 digital cockpit platform boosting CPU and GPU power by 100%. It has an ultra-large storage of 256G, with memory bandwith up 160%, average energy efficiency up 30%, and comprehensive upgrade of computing power.”
“It also realizes 37% faster boot time, 55% faster app launch from cold standby, and 18% faster response. More powerful perception and computing can bring better and more diverse cockpit experience,” NIO CEO added.

“For example, the dash camera supports 4K Ultra HD videos with 5 cameras recording simultaneously. The 3D perspective is now available in the HD Surround View, letting you drag and view your car from any angle. With the new Surround View Plus, your car will have a keen eye for the surroundings, making reversing easier and travelling more convenient. Guardian Mode uses multiple sensing units including cameras, ultrasonic sensors and IMU to safeguard your car all day long.”

“NOMI’s wake-up from cold standby is 38% faster, response to command is 12% faster, and voice misrecognition rate is 28% lower. The new-generation neural TTS technology achieves a Mean Opinion Score of 4.6. NOMI’s vivid voice makes the conversational experience more natural and authentic. Smart action atomizes all the features into over 45 cues and 150 executable moves, coordinating multiple modules, including seats, climate control, ambient lighting and center display. You can put together features you like and customize experience you desire”, NIO CEO concluded.
On Tuesday, NIO shares closed 16.70% higher at $18.66 being the third most traded stock in the U.S. market with 105.58 million shares traded.
