Credit Suisse Analyst Bin Wang released today a note where he says that Nio‘s sales boost is expected with the start of the ET7 Model production — deliveries starting on March 28th. The Suisse bank estimates Nio’s 2022 sales volume will increase 64% YoY to 150k units in 2022, “due to its penetration to the sedan segment” and 380k deliveries by 2024. Last December, Credit Suisse reiterated Nio’s $83 Price Target and an Outperform Rating. At the time, the Suisse Bank enhanced that NIO ET5 is “the most promising volume product debut”.
“Nio is our top recommendation for 2022. Catalysts include ET7 sedan delivery starting from 28 March 2022, which should boost NIO’s sales volume returning to growth track. We rate NIO as the top pick in the China auto space, due to its clear growth prospects in 2022.”

“We estimate Nio‘s 2022 sales volume would increase 64% YoY to 150k units, due to its penetration to the sedan segment. NIO showcased two sedan products-ET7/ET5-in its NIO days, which it targets to start delivering in Mar/Sep-2022. Meanwhile, Nio is likely to showcase its new SUV (ES&) at the Apr-2022 Beijing auto show, whose delivery might start from Dec-2022.”
“Both the ET5/ES7 will be products in the second plant in NEO Park of Hefei city, which will start production in 3Q22. We had heard positive feedback on the NIO ET5 sedan, which is enjoying a strong order flow currently. Thanks to its competitive price, Rmb240k under BaaS (battery-as-a-service), which is below Tesla Model 3’s Rmb250k, we expect ET5 to be the best-selling volume product in NIO’s product portfolio, with ~7k monthly volume. Given the NP2 (NIO platform 2.0) technology, Nio will likely speed up its new products launch schedule after a year of no new products in.”

“We expected NIO to launch three new products in 2022-ET5 sedan, ET7 sedan, and ES7 SUV-followed by another three SUV products in 2023 -new generation ES6, new generation ES8, and ES5 compact-size SUV. Looking ahead, we expect Nio to add three sedan products in 2024 (ET6, ET8 and ET9), together with the introduction of its new mass-market brand. As a result, we estimate NIO to deliver 150k units/280k units/380k units in 2022/2023/2024.”
“We expect Nio to make progress in its autonomous driving capability in 2022-the new NAD (NIO autonomous driving) ‘Level 4’ technology. NAD brings a safer and more relaxing autonomous driving from point A to point B, gradually covering cases, such as on expressways, urban, parking, and battery swapping. We expect NAD to likely provide some tailor-made map establishment arrangement for each NAD car user’s certain ‘point-to-point’ autonomous driving capability, such as from the car user’s home to office/school.”

Recently, Nio announced yesterday that the production and manufacturing of ET5 Model is “in full swing” in the Hefei Factory. The first units of the model unveiled during the last NIO Day, held last December, are expected to be delivered in September 2022. Recently, CEO William Li revealed that the Nio ET5 would also arrive in Norway and some other overseas markets from spring 2023.

NIO ES7 Model – that wasn’t officially announced by the Chinese EV maker yet – was seen on Spy Mode under tests. The video surged on Weibo, the Chinese Social Network, and suggests that the announcement might not be far.
