US brands Lucid Motors and Rivian will be showcasing their EV models at the ‘Main Hall’ of the upcoming LA Auto Show, scheduled to take place in the last week of November.
In 2023, Lucid unveiled its second model — the Gravity SUV — at the auto show in Los Angeles. Pre-production units rolled off the production line about eight months later.
This year marks the Newark-based EV maker’s return with a dedicated exhibition booth, following its smaller presence in 2024 when it only offered test drives of the Air sedan.
The auto show will take place from November 21 through the end of the month.
Rivian also took part last year solely through vehicle test drives, participating exclusively in the Electric Avenue last year.
The Irvine-based company made its public debut seven years ago at the same event.
At that time, it showcased the R1S SUV at the Auto Show, following the earlier launch of its R1T pickup.
As it prepares to launch the R2 SUV in the first half of 2026, the model is expected to be present at the 2025 LA Auto Show, as part of the go-to-market preparations.
The ‘Main Hall’ will feature several legacy automakers, such as General Motors‘ (through Cadillac, GMC and Chevrolet), Stellantis (through Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Jeep, Chrysler) and Ford.
It will also include Japanese brands Toyota and Nissan, the German giant Volkswagen and Geely-backed brand Volvo.
Lucid and Rivian will be the only pure EV makers present at the Show’s ‘Main Hall,’ with Tesla joining at one of the ‘Atriums.’
According to the LA Auto Show’s website, the ‘Main Hall’ is for “displaying multiple vehicles and models and creating hospitality suites and special experiences.”
‘Atriums’ provide high-traffic areas for “startups, hypercars, tech firms, and unique brands” to showcase new products.
Besides the three brands, Faraday Future will also be available for test-drives, while Volkswagen-backed Scout Motors returns to the show with a ‘Special Exhibit,’ where it will showcase the Traveler SUV and Terra truck.
The LA Auto Show also promotes the ‘ZEVAS,’ awarding several zero-emission vehicles (ZEV) based on their segments since 2021.
For the best fully electric crossover SUV or van, contenders include Tesla’s Model X and Model Y, as well as the Polestar 4 SUV, among others.
In the fully electric sedan category, Tesla’s Model 3 and Model S compete alongside the Lucid Air and Polestar 2.
The SUV category includes the Polestar 3 and Rivian R1S, while the pick-up segment features the Tesla Cybertruck and Rivian R1T.
The most prestigious ZEVAS award, the “Most Anticipated ZEV,” has 24 contenders, including Rivian‘s R2 and R3 models, Lucid‘s Gravity and an upcoming midsize SUV, and the Polestar 6.
