The debut model of Lucid Motors was named, for the third consecutive year, the top choice among luxury EV models by Cars.com‘s ranking.
According to the platform, the sedan Lucid Air is “a technological marvel of miniaturization, optimization and efficiency,” with “luxurious appointments that surpass competitors.”
Cars.com added that the vehicle’s engineering “allows for a rated all-electric range as high as 512 miles” — which, according to Cars.com, is “the longest available from any EV.”
Earlier this year, Lucid has set a new Guinness World Record for the longest distance driven by an electric vehicle on a single charge, covering 1,205.8 kilometers (749.2 miles) in a Lucid Air Grand Touring.
In its evaluation, the platform also noted Lucid‘s switch to the NACS charging standard, which gives its vehicles access to more than 23,500 Tesla Superchargers.
The company started shipping charging adapters to Lucid Air owners in July.
Priced at $220 excluding taxes, the DC fast-charging adapter supports up to 500 kW (1000V, 500A) and is compatible exclusively with the Lucid Air — as the Gravity SUV already integrates a NACS port.
Despite the recent launch of the 2026 Air, the new model does not include a native NACS port, which means that users still need to purchase the adapter.
Compared to the previous year’s model, the 2026 Air Pure sedan adds DC fast charging at up to 250kW and is capable of charging up to 200 miles (320 km) in about 16 minutes.
According to Cars.com, the 2026 Lucid Air’s “base price around $72,000 is surprisingly affordable.”
As its standard trim, it starts from $70,900, while the Air Touring and the Air Grand Touring are priced from $79,900 and $114,900.
The Lucid Air Sapphire, its most expensive version, costs $249,000 and comes fully equipped.
The model first appeared as the best luxury electric vehicle in the platform’s Top EV Picks in 2022.
By then, they named Lucid Air model the Luxury electric vehicle model of the year due to its “mind-melting acceleration” and a “quiet, comfortable ride”.
In its 2025 rankings, Cars.com awarded the Kia EV9 the title of best electric vehicle, while the Lucid Air secured a spot among the leading finalists.
