Hyundai’s May Sales Surge 12% in the US to 78,485 Units

Hyundai Motor America reported on Monday a 12 percent increase in May sales, reaching 78,485 units compared to one year ago.

The result market the best all-time retail and total sales for IONIQ 5 and Santa Fe HEV as Hyundai‘s total EV sales saw a 42 percent increase in May.

In May, Hyundai‘s retail sales surged by 9 percent compared to the previous year, driven by strong performance from Palisade, Ioniq 5, and the hybrid Santa Fe models.

Sales records were set for several models, including the Ioniq 5 (+82 percent), Ioniq 6 (+13 percent), Tucson HEV (+54 percent), Santa Fe HEV (+116 percent), Palisade (+45 percent), and Santa Cruz (+2 percent).

Last month, the brand launched a new marketing campaign to promote its electric vehicle lineup and received nine Top Safety Pick recognitions from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety, including the Hyundai Ioniq 5’s upgrade to a Top Safety Pick+.

Hyundai and Kia have recently inked a memorandum of understanding with Exide Energy Solutions Ltd to provide batteries for their electric vehicles in India.

The South Korean automakers highlighted that the collaboration with Exide Energy is geared towards localizing EV battery production in India, the world’s third largest automotive market.
