Hyundai IONIQ 5 wins CUV of Texas and 3 other Awards by the Texas Auto Writers Association

Hyundai Motor announced on Thursday that its IONIQ 5 model took home four Texas Auto Roundup Awards: CUV of Texas, Electric Vehicle of Texas, and Highest Personal Appeal Awards. Besides those, also IONIQ 5 vehicle-to-load (V2L) adaptor was named the Best New Feature award. 

Elantra N model rounded out Hyundai’s wins by being selected for the Best Value award. The awards were announced virtually utilizing the Houston Auto Show social media channels. Recently, IONIQ 5 added to its growing list of Car of the Year honors by being named overall UK Car of the Year 2022.

“These prestigious awards speak to the impressive ability of Hyundai’s design, engineering, manufacturing and product development teams to bring to market the best vehicles in two distinct categories,” said Olabisi Boyle, vice president, product planning and mobility strategy, Hyundai Motor North America. “IONIQ 5 delivers on range, power, charging speed, design, interior space, and advance technology for today’s eco-focused drivers, while the Elantra N offers dynamic driving capabilities in a thrilling everyday sportscar. Thirty automotive journalists evaluated 33 vehicles at this year’s event held at the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas on April 25-26, 2022. TAWA members evaluated vehicles based on their interior, exterior, value, performance and personal appeal to determine best-in-class models in major vehicle segments.

On April 19, Hyundai Motor announced that expanded its partnership with IonQ to use quantum computing for object detection. The companies said that the project will leverage quantum machine learning to improve the computation process.

Hyundai Motor announced on April 17 that it is entering the online community-based Non-Fungible Token market in collaboration with the ‘Meta Kongz’ NFT brand. Hyundai Motor is the first automaker to enter the NFT market with its own NFT community, including the Hyundai NFT official website and channels on Discord and Twitter.

In February, Hyundai has the best selling model in Norway with Hyundai IONIQ 5. The model has a 489,900 Nok ($55,235 USD) starting price, ranked #1 with 455 units, down from the 476 vehicles sold in the first month of the year.
