Polestar registered 5,718 vehicles in Europe last month, more than double the 2,412 units recorded in August, according to data compiled from national registration agencies and the EU-EVs data platform.
The figures cover 13 of the 15 European markets where the Swedish brand operates.
Registration data for France, a market Polestar recently entered, has yet to be disclosed, while figures for Finland have also not been published as of Monday.
The premium brand backed by China’s Geely Holding Group saw its sales increase 31.5% compared to the same period a year ago.

In those markets, Polestar had registered 4,347 vehicles in September 2024.
The brand’s monthly registrations in Europe show sharp fluctuations largely due to the brand’s dependence on manufacturing and shipping cycles in China and the US.
The Polestar 2 has been produced at the Luqiao factory in Zhejiang, China, since 2020. Production of the Polestar 3 SUV is split between Chengdu, China, and Volvo’s plant in South Carolina, US.
The Polestar 4, currently built in Hangzhou Bay, China, is expected to start being produced in Busan, South Korea, later this year.
The new factory will serve the US market, according to the brand. It remains unclear whether vehicles will also be shipped to Europe from there.
The brand, which is headquartered in Gothenburg, registered 1,004 vehicles in Sweden last month, nearly doubling registrations from a year ago, when it had listed 509 vehicles.
According to data released by Mobility Sweden, sales algo surged from the 428 vehicles sold last month, making September its second strongest month in the country year to date.
Registrations in Norway more than doubled to 424 vehicles last month, compared to the 189 units sold a year ago, while nearly tripling from 154 units in August.
Mobility Denmark data showed that Polestar sold 126 vehicles, a three-unit drop from August.
In September 2024, the EV maker had registered 186 EVs in the Danish market.
Last month marked a new record for Polestar in the UK, as it registered 2,758 vehicles in the island.
Sales nearly tripled from 729 vehicles in August. Compared to September 2024 — the previous sales high, at 2,429 units — figures rose by 13.5%.
The company has recently introduced a new version of the Polestar 3 SUV, while also renaming the vehicles’ nomenclatures.
The vehicle was first launched in the UK, where demand is higher.
The company registered 13 vehicles in Ireland last month, down from the 57 units registered a year before. The figures also declined by six units from August.
In the Netherlands, 348 Polestar vehicles were registered last month.
The figures increased by nearly 100 units from August’s 249 units. In September 2024, the company had registered 228 vehicles in the Dutch market.
Polestar sold 348 vehicles in Germany last month, an increase of 16.8% year over year, according to data from Germany’s Federal Motor Transport Authority.
The premium brand saw a sales rise of 10 units from August, when it had sold 338 electric vehicles in the country.
In the Benelux region, which includes both Belgium and Luxembourg, the EV maker registered 245 vehicles in September.
Sales have fallen both year over year — from 288 units — and sequentially — from 291 vehicles.
In the Portuguese market, the brand sold 75 vehicles last month.
The figures more than doubled from the previous month, when it listed 31 units, and tripled from September 2024, when 24 vehicles were sold.
Official registration data from the Spanish association ANFAC does not disclose registrations per brands.
According to the EU-EVs platform, the brand registered 92 vehicles — 50 units above the same period a year before.
In August, the brand had sold 24 vehicles.
Data from the platform suggests that Polestar sold 20 vehicles in Italy in August, while 285 vehicles were registered in September.
Compared to a year before, the numbers saw a fivefold increase (from 57).
Although the company entered the Italian market in 2022, alongside Portugal and Spain, Italy’s automotive association ANFIA does not report the brand’s vehicle registrations.
The brand plans to grow its European retail footprint to more than 180 locations by 2027.
Earlier this Monday, Chinese media outlet Lanjinger reported that Polestar has closed its last physical store in China, as it continues to face weak demand in the country.
The EV maker will adopt an online sales model in the country, while continuing to operate showrooms across several markets overseas.
Polestar only sold 69 vehicles in China in the first half of the year — with 56 of them having been registered in January.
