XPeng‘s upcoming SUV under its cheaper MONA series will also be available in Europe, as the company prepares for a major portfolio expansion outside China in 2026.
The midsize SUV, which has recently been spotted testing in China under heavy camouflage, will be the second in XPeng‘s lower-cost range, following the Mona M03 sedan.
Speaking with Automotive News last week, on the event that celebrated its 1 millionth vehicle produced, the company’s President Brian Gu said that the model will be introduced as part of a bigger push into the region.
The second model under the Mona series will be coming to Europe towards the end of 2026, Gu said, adding that the SUV will be “one of our most important products.”
The camouflaged units had a coupe profile and appear to retain the Mona series design style.
XPeng’s Mona SUV is expected to compete in the mid-size electric SUV segment against models such as the BYD Sealion 7, SAIC‘s MG S6, Geely EX5, and the Stellantis-backed Leapmotor C10.
MONA Series
Launched in August 2024, the model quickly became the company’s top-seller in its domestic market, representing about 40% of global monthly sales.
XPeng announced in September that the model will expand to Europe and other global markets in 2026, after only being available in China.
Its first market confirmed was Cambodia, in which the automaker entered last month, and the first units of the Mona sedan have been shipped overseas.
In the latest earnings call, XPeng said it will launch four new models next year, which will be introduced in both fully electric and range-extended versions.
The company’s founder and CEO He Xiaopeng said at the Guangzhou Auto Show last Friday that one of them will be the Mona SUV.
Additionally, a third Mona model is also planned.
European Presence
XPeng has more than doubled its presence in Europe this year — and is already close to meeting its goal of expanding the number of its global markets from 30 to 60 by the end of 2025.
A year ago, the company was available in Norway, Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, and France.
Since then, it has further expanded in Southern and Eastern Europe while beginning sales in the UK, Ireland, Iceland, and Finland.
Its European lineup includes the best-selling G6 SUV, the brand’s most affordable model in the region, and the only one available in all European markets — including the UK, where it is sold in a right-hand-drive version.
XPeng‘s lineup also features the G9 SUV and the previous-generation P7, with the updated P7 expected to launch in Europe next year.
The company’s CEO also reaffirmed last week that the P7+ will launch in global markets in 2026, with Europe expected to be a key region for the model.
Just one day after launching its first extended-range model, the X9 Power X, the company announced that upcoming hybrid models will also be released in Europe, as they could be a strong fit for the continent, according to He Xiaopeng.
Earlier on Monday, a local media outlet reported that XPeng is ramping up production for the extended-range vehicle ahead of the year-end, as it registered strong demand immediately after the launch.
