Just four days after launching the extended-range X9 multi-purpose van, XPeng is reportedly accelerating its supply chain to ramp up production of its first hybrid model due to strong demand.
According to local media outlet Wallstreetcn, the company has notified its supply chain partners to urgently prepare an additional 5,000 sets of materials before the end of the year.
A source within the industry told the outlet that the ‘XPeng X9 Super Extended Range Supply Capacity Assurance Notice‘ aims to cover strong post-launch order demand and ensure that the delivery schedule is not affected.
X9 EREV Launch
The 1-millionth vehicle produced by XPeng — a milestone it reached last week — was the extended-range electric vehicle (EREV), the ‘X9 Power X.’
The multi-purpose van is priced from 309,800 yuan ($43,580) and it was launched on Thursday, a day before the opening of the Guangzhou Auto Show.
For comparison, the fully electric version, which was upgraded earlier this year, is priced from 359,800 yuan ($50,620).
The X9 EREV features two variants — the 1602 Max and the 1602 Ultra, with an initial pricing difference of 20,000 yuan between the two.
Deliveries
Founder and CEO He Xiaopeng said last Friday that the brand has started “delivery of the first batch of XPeng X9 Super Range vehicles to their owners,” achieving “delivery upon launch.”
A day later, the company published on Weibo that it had reached a “record for daily deliveries,” however, it did not mention specific numbers.
XPeng also noted that customers can benefit from the purchase tax subsidy (of up to 15,000 yuan) up until December 31.
The current delivery waiting time for the 1602 Max version has been extended to 3 to 5 weeks, while some color options for the Ultra version can reach up to 6 weeks.
Certified Longest Range
The iteration’s names refer to the model’s combined range: according to the brand, when the 60L fuel tank and the battery are fully charged, the X9 can travel up to 1,602 km (about 995 miles).
XPeng announced on Monday that the China Automotive Technology & Research Center has certified the model as the ‘World’s Longest-Range Large Seven-Seater.’
According to the company, the vehicle has a fully electric autonomy of up to 452 km (280 miles).
Upcoming Models
XPeng announced in its latest earnings call, held last week, that it plans to launch three extended-range models in the first quarter of 2026.
The company is preparing to unveil hybrid versions of the newly launched G7 SUV, its cheapest G6 model, and the P7 sedan, according to recent catalogues by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
Despite not having specifically mentioned international markets, XPeng is expected to announce the launch of the hybrid X9 in Europe, as the model was spotted in several locations across the continent last month.
Additionally, the brand will launch four new models in the following year, which will be offered in both battery electric and extended-range versions.
