XPeng Sees Battery and Consumption Details of its Hybrid Models Leaked

XPeng has recently filed for hybrid versions of several of its models, according to vehicle listings published by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

Prior to these, the Guangzhou-based company only produced fully electric models since its inception 11 years ago.

The X9 multi-purpose van (MPV) will be XPeng‘s first model with a hybrid powertrain; a range-extended version was unveiled last month.

The G7 SUV, which launched as a fully electric vehicle in July, will also receive a hybrid variant.

Well-known automotive blogger ‘德卤爱开车’ shared details on the range and battery specifications for both models on Weibo this Wednesday.

The information was released on the MIIT’s New Energy Vehicle Declaration List.

The X9 MPV will feature a 63.3 kWh battery, with an all-electric range of 345 km (214.4 miles).

The vehicle is expected to have a fuel consumption of 6.4 L/100 km (about 36.8 miles per gallon) while in charge-sustainable mode.

The fully electric X9 starts from 399,800 yuan ($56,000) in China, and is a best-seller in the segment in countries such as Hong Kong, Thailand and Malaysia, according to XPeng.

The range-extended MPV is set to debut in October, according to founder and CEO He Xiaopeng. Pricing details were not yer revealed.

The G7 SUV, on the other hand, will feature a 55.8 kWh battery, capable of delivering a 325 km (202 miles) electric range.

Its fuel consumption will be at 5.9 L/100 km, equivalent to 39.9 miles per gallon, when in sustainable mode.

According to the MIIT filing, the upcoming G7 will feature a 1.5L range-extender system and will be powered by an electric motor with a maximum output of 218 kW.

The vehicle is 26 mm longer than the fully electric version.

It measures 4,918 mm in length, 1,925 mm in width and 1,655 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2890 mm.

The fully electric G7 SUV is priced between 195,800 and 225,800 yuan ($27,300–$31,500). Pricing details for the hybrid version remain unknown.

Last week, the MIIT revealed that XPeng has also filed for range-extended electric versions of its P7+ sedan and G6 SUV in China.

The document shared this Wednesday included other hybrid models, such as the iCar V27, the Smart #5, and Geely’s Galaxy V900, among others.

It also revealed the specs for the fully electric GAC Aion UT, a new version which will allow battery swapping.

In January, GAC’s Director of Battery System Integration Qingquan Wang said the company had already finished its “technical alignments” to make its upcoming models compatible with Nio’s battery swap system.
