XPeng Receives 10,000 Firm Orders For Its New Flagship Sedan P7+

China’s electric vehicle maker XPeng announced Thursday that it received 10,000 non-refundable orders just twelve minutes after officially launching its new flagship sedan, the P7+.

The entry-level variant of the sedan, the Long Range Max, starts at 186,800 yuan, equivalent to $26,153. The Ultra Long Range Max and the Limited Edition Max will start at 198,800 ($27,800) and 218,800 yuan ($30,600), respectively.

“The speed of large orders for XPeng P7+ has broken XPeng’s historical record! Thank you to every owner for their support, and thank you to every user for supporting believers in technology! XPeng Motors will continue to work hard to bring everyone the most advanced and excellent products!,” the company wrote on Weibo.

As of the time of writing, shares of the NEV maker are trading 13% higher at $13.90.

The deliveries will start “immediately upon launch,” according to XPeng.

XPeng started pre-sales for the P7+ model in mid-October at the 2024 Paris Motor Show, with the pre-sale price set at 209,800 yuan ($29,375).  XPeng reported receiving 30,000 pre-sale orders for the model within one hour and 48 minutes of the Paris debut.

On Wednesday, the company held its 2024 AI Day in Guangzhou where it unveiled humanoid robot Iron, the extended-range system Kunpeng, among other AI-related technologies.

The company is planning the launch of a robotaxi model in 2026. On Wednesday, XPeng said that the model will be equipped with Turing chips and the Canghai Platform “to deliver 3,000T of processing power with L4-level safety and hardware redundancy.”

XPeng’s deliveries in October reached 23,917 units, a new record for the Guangzhou-headquartered brand and a 20% growth from a year ago.

The company plans to expand deliveries to overseas markets next year, with a goal of operating in 60 markets by the end of 2025.
