Guangzhou-based XPeng held its annual meeting on Saturday, where CEO He Xiaopeng announced 60,000 sales of the Mona M03 model. Of those, the last 10,000 units were sold in the last weeks, according to the chief executive.
After a weaker-than-expected start to 2024, during which XPeng’s monthly deliveries fell below 5,000 units, the company achieved new sales records by year-end.
In the last quarter of 2024, the Mona M03 sedan accounted for about the same number of deliveries as all its other models combined.

Speaking at the company’s annual meeting, He Xiaopeng said the company has sold 60,000 M03 sedans since the August launch after having added 10,000 units in the last two weeks.
The chief executive confirmed that deliveries of the M03 Max variant, an upgraded version with XPeng’s end-to-end assisted driving capabilities, in the second quarter of the year. At the meeting, one M03 Max was riffled and gifted to one of XPeng’s employees.
XPeng has positioned the M03 as its most affordable offering, with the base model priced under 150,000 yuan ($20,480). The M03 MAX variant, which incorporates the XNGP autonomous driving system, is priced at 155,800 yuan, equivalent to $21,270.
The company delivered 190,068 vehicles for the year, a 34% increase compared to 2023. Sales of the Mona M03 exceeded 10,000 units per month over the past four months.
Last week, XPeng’s head of brand public relations, accused two rival automakers of orchestrating paid social media campaigns targeting the model.
While Alex did not name the companies involved, he said that one is headquartered in northern China and the other in the south.
The company signed, earlier this month, a memorandum of understanding with Volkswagen Group China to jointly build more than 20,000 chargers creating “one of the largest super-fast charging networks in China.”
In 2023, Volkswagen Group announced it had acquired a 4.99% stake in the Chinese EV maker.
