Lei Jun, founder and chairman of Xiaomi, was recently seen driving a red Ferrari Purosangue SUV, and the video circulated on Chinese social media on Monday.
After launching the sedan SU7 last March, the second electric vehicle model from the smartphone giant will be an SUV and the latest road testing images have shown a similar exterior design to Ferrari’s first ever 4-door model.
Here’s the video below.
As reported by the local media outlet ITHome, a blogger on Weibo commented on the video asking if Lei Jun driving a Ferrari Purosangue “does suggest that Xiaomi’s SUV is inspired by Ferrari”.
“Could Xiaomi offer young people their first Ferrari-like SUV?,” the user also questioned.
The Purosangue was unveiled by the Italian carmaker in September 2022 with Ferrari saying the price would start at 390,000 euros, equivalent to $389,000 by then and to $422,000 by now.

Xiaomi is expected to launch its SUV, codenamed “MX11,” by the end of the year with the first deliveries taking place early next year.

A recent document from Xiaomi’s supplier Bosch has shown that the company will also start deliveries of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra in 2025 while its first six-seater extended-range (EREV) SUV will follow in 2026.
Lei Jun announced last week the company delivered more than 1,000 units of its debut model SU7 in one day as production ramp-up continues.
Xiaomi deliveries surpassed (again) 10,000 deliveries in September as it aims to reach 120,000 deliveries this year.

The tech leader launched its inaugural model in late March with deliveries starting in April 2024. For this year, Xiaomi aims to deliver 120,000 EVs —up from the previous target of 100,000 units.
Over the last few months, the company led by Lei Jun has not been disclosing the exact number of cars delivered.
However, in the second quarter earnings results, the company informed that it delivered 27,307 vehicles from April to June resulting in 11,619 units in June.
