Tesla is on track for its fifth straight month of year-on-year sales growth in Norway, with Model Y registrations on track to nearly quadruple from July.
According to preliminary data from EU-EVs, Tesla registered 2,711 vehicles in Norway between August 1 and 27, giving the company a 23.8% market share and the top spot in the market.
The refreshed Model Y led the surge, with 2,220 units registered so far this month — more than three times July’s total of 715.
The SUV is, by far, the best-selling model in the country in the first four weeks of August.
The Model 3 added 489 units between Aug.1—27, up from 102 in July.
Tesla‘s gains mark a reversal from last month, when the brand ranked second behind Volkswagen with 838 vehicles and an 8.9% market share.
Based on August data through the 27th, Tesla has nearly tripled its share compared with July. In August 2024, the market share stood at 23.4%.
The Model Y has also emerged as Norway’s best-selling car in August, with registrations roughly triple those of the second-placed Volkswagen ID. Buzz.
In August 2023, Tesla registered 2,485 vehicles in the country, when the previous generation of the Model Y was still on sale.
So far this year, Tesla’s performance in Norway has been mixed, with steep year-on-year declines early in 2025 followed by sharp gains in the summer.
Registrations fell 38% in January and 48% in February, while March was nearly flat at -1%.
The turnaround began in April (+12%) and accelerated in May (+213%) and June (+54%). July added another strong month with an 83% jump compared with a year earlier.
Despite the sales increase felt in both Norway and Spain last month, registrations in July declined in key markets like Germany and Netherlands.
Last month’s figures showed a 55.1% plunge year over year in the German market, where the EV maker registered 1,110 vehicles. Last month, the overall market share of electric vehicles in Germany rose 58% compared to the same period a year before.
Tesla set its second-lowest monthly result so far this year in the Dutch market, with 443 vehicles sold in July — down 61.8% from a year before.
As the company awaits regulatory approval of its Full Self-Driving system in Europe, Elon Musk stated at the latest earnings call that they’ve “been working with the Netherlands, and I think we are close to getting approval there.”
As reported last week, Tesla announced new incentives for the Model 3 and Model Y in Sweden, after recording its weakest monthly sales in nearly three years in July.
In July, Tesla sold 163 vehicles in Sweden, a plunge of 85.8% year over year and 83.3% from the previous month. It was the lowest monthly result since October 2022.
