Rivian Cuts Every R1 Lease Price for August, Erasing July’s Increases

Rivian cut advertised lease payments on every R1S and R1T configuration for August, reversing the increases it imposed on July 1 — in five of six cases to the exact dollar of the June price.

On the R1S, the Dual returned to $1,139 a month from July’s $1,189, the Tri to $1,599 from $1,689 and the Quad to $2,029 from $2,099.

The R1T moved in parallel, as first reported on X by Rivian and content creator Chris Hilbert.

The Dual to $1,129 from $1,179, the Tri to $1,559 from $1,649 and the Quad to $1,979 from $2,049 — three dollars above its June level, the only trim not restored precisely.

The Tri configurations, which had absorbed the steepest July increases at roughly $90 a month, gave back the full amount.

The August slate, valid through August 31 with delivery by September 30, completes a reversal that began before July ended.

As EV reported, Rivian walked back its July structure in stages.

Inventory price cuts of $500 on Dual R1S builds, $2,000 across R1T pickups and $5,000 on flagship Quads arrived mid-month while a 0.99% rate returned on the Tri in the final week alongside a $1,000 discount on any new R1 ordered through the end of July.

Lucid’s clearance program on 2026 Gravity stock, stacking a $10,000 credit with zero-percent financing, has produced lease quotes on the $82,550 SUV below the R2’s — a comparison now circulating widely in EV social media.

What August Keeps

The 0.99% APR carries into August on the R1 Tri Max over 60 months, but the 3.99% tier now covers the Dual Standard and Dual Performance builds — a full percentage point above the 2.99% those configurations carried through July, and four points above the zero-rate offers that opened the year and reached the Quad for the first time in February.

The $3,000 lease bonus persists on the 2026 R1 Dual with Performance Upgrade and Large battery and on the Tri Max, applied to the amount due at signing on 24- and 36-month terms.

Rivian‘s own August examples price an R1T Tri Max at $1,559 a month with $6,454 due at signing and an R1S Tri Max at $1,599 with $6,494, each before tax and including the $1,895 destination fee.

The R2 Sits Out Another Month

The R2 Performance Launch Edition, priced at $57,990, enters its third month on sale with no purchase incentives and an advertised lease unchanged at $829 a month with $5,724 due at signing.

The 36-month residual value has been cut from $38,070 at launch to $36,286, a reduction of about $1,800 that raises effective payments without touching the headline.

The monthly cost stack also carries Rivian’s software pricing, with the Autonomy+ hands-free suite a paid service at $49.99 a month since April.

In March 2022, the company raised R1 prices roughly 20% including on existing preorders, reversed the increase for reservation holders within days under owner revolt, and ultimately paid a $250 million settlement to close the shareholder litigation the episode helped spawn.
