Onvo’s Weekly Registrations Drop Sequentially with L90 Recording 2,090 Units

Nio’s family-oriented sub-brand Onvo saw its weekly registrations in China drop 13.5% in the August 4-10 period, insurance registration data shared on Tuesday on Weibo showed.

Despite the brand recently stating that it had over 20,000 units of the six-seat SUV ready to be delivered to the first batch of customers, registrations of the L90 model increased by less than 5.6% to 2,090 vehicles.

In the previous week — where the SUV was only being delivered in three days — Onvo registered 1,980 units across China with the Nio founder and CEO highlighting the top-3 spot among large SUVs.

Waiting times increased twice last week. First from “4-5 weeks” to “6-8 weeks” with the range rising again a day later to “8-10 weeks.”

As of press time, the waiting time remains at that range.

Deliveries for the L90 started on the first day of August across 44 cities.

The brand introduced a 60 kWh battery pack option for the model this week, as planned to provide a smaller and more affordable battery option for its customers.

Adding the 1,110 registrations of its debut model, Onvo reached 3,200 units — down 13.6% from the 3,700 units posted in the prior week.

Nio Group recorded 6,089 insurance registrations last week, with its Onvo sub-brand contributing 3,200 units.

The main Nio marque insured 2,162 vehicles (down from 3,450) and the Firefly brand recorded 684 units of its debut model, down 12.3% from the previous week’s 780 vehicles.

Nio Group, which comprises the premium Nio marque and its Onvo and Firefly sub-brands, reportedly had more than 10,000 new orders last week, according to industry tracker ‘CarFans China’.

Onvo announced earlier this week that it started rolling out a new software version of its operating system ‘Coconut’, adding features focused on improving the family experience.

According to a post on the app of Nio‘s sub-brand, the 2.2.0 version introduces a new user interface and several driving experience and smart capabilities updates.
