Onvo Registrations in China Decline for Second Consecutive Week

Nio Group‘s family marketed sub-brand Onvo has sold 2,650 vehicles in China last week, according to insurance registration data shared on social media this Tuesday.

Onvo sales declined for the second consecutive week after a sales jump from late July, when the brand began deliveries of its second fully electric model, the three-row SUV L90.

It was the lowest sales results since the last full week of July, when Onvo had sold 1,510 vehicles.

However, sales of the sub-brand remained above the main Nio marque, which it started outperforming six weeks ago.

The Nio Group has registered a total 6,300 electric vehicles last week. Nio has contributed with 2,530 units and the most recent Firefly accounted for 1,090 vehicles.

Regarding Onvo, sales were divided between its L60 and L90 SUVs, which represented 760 and 1,890 units, respectively.

The L80, a five-seat version of the L90, was planned to be launched later this year. However, that target was delayed until early 2026.

Onvo‘s Head of Product Yu Bin told local media late last month that the company intends to first “serve L90 users well” before setting a new timeline for the L80.

“We hope to first serve the needs of Onvo L90 users well,” he stated. “Please give us some time to consider the appropriate timing for the launch of the Onvo L80.”

The brand’s chief Fei Shen recently revealed that Onvo is planning a “facelift” for its debut L60 SUV “very soon.”

“Minor facelifts will be given to you at an appropriate time,” he stated. “We will announce this very soon, the facelift.”

Shen added that the L60 and L90, though produced at two different factories, share the same equipment system.

The Onvo L90 was among the best-selling SUVs last week, placing sixth, below Tesla’s Model Y, which took the spot with 8,400 units sold.

However, the available data does not separate sales of the five-seat (Model Y) and six-seat versions (Model Y L).

Li Auto registered 1,100 Li i8 SUVs. The model was set to compete with the L90, having both been unveiled and launched during the July—August period.

The Nio Group reached a new monthly record last month, with 31,305 vehicles delivered across its three brands.

Onvo accounted for 16,434 vehicles — more than half of the Group’s sales, doubling from July, and setting a new record for the brand since it launched.

The company’s main brand represented 10,525 EVs, while the remaining 4,346 vehicles were Firefly units — also its highest sales figures since deliveries started in late April.
