During this week, NIO invited 40 journalists and influencers from Sweden and Denmark to visit its NIO House in Oslo (Norway) and test its services, like NIO’s Battery Swap system. Head of Communication of NIO, Florian Otto shared this Thursday on LinkedIn a photo from the event and said: “Last but not least: NIO Media Days for international journalists ending tonight with Danish and Swedish media in our Oslo NIO House. NIO Vice President Hui Zhang invited more than 40 Top journalists and influencers to give them a unique experience about NIO. Starting this year in 4 EU markets – it will be an exciting journey. Especially with NIO Swap stations. Stay tuned!”.

One of the journalists invited was Franz W. Rother, from Edison. Rother enhanced the swapping time (under 6 minutes) and the adoption of the customers to BaaS — Battery as a Service. When posting the article on LinkedIn, Rother asked: “A battery change offers many advantages. Nevertheless, the concept has not yet prevailed. Will NIO be able to change that?”. Otto answered shortly after: “Clear YES! Nearly 900 NIO swap stations in China. And the trend is rising. More and more companies are joining. CATL and also Shell.”

“In China, the alternative concept to Tesla’s fastchargers is well received. The young company has now opened more than 860 “Battery swap” stations there, where 7.6 million battery changes have already been carried out – the service is well received by the owners of the more than 182,000 electric cars that NIO delivered by the end of February. More than 80 percent of vehicle buyers or lessees prefer to book the electricity storage system rather than purchase it together with the car.

The advantages are obvious: The car always has the latest type of battery in top condition on board. Instead of standing at the fast charger for half an hour – the NIO vehicles can of course also be charged conventionally – you can continue the journey after six minutes at the latest. And if you are planning a holiday trip, you can book your standard battery with a capacity of 100 kWh by appointment via app and for a small surcharge, for example, for a battery with a storage capacity of 150 kWh. It couldn’t be easier and more convenient.” Read the full article here.

Earlier today, our site unveiled that Blackrock, the world’s largest investment manager, increased its position on NIO during the last quarter of 2021 via iShares ETFs. The company responsible for iShares ETFs is BlackRock, which acquired the brand and business from Barclays in 2009.

Shen Fei, Vice President of Power Management of NIO, was recently at the China EV100 Forum 2022 where he shared his thoughts on the power grid system, battery swap stations and its advantages and disadvantages. This was the 7th time that NIO participated in the China EV100 Forum, an annual event attracts great interest from companies and organizations that are currently active in China.

Lihong Qin, NIO’s Co-Founder, Director and President confirmed on Tuesday that NIO ES7 Model will be released at the end of May, 2 months from now. Qin was asked this Tuesday about the possibility to see the new model NIO ES7 as soon as next month and responded: “Released at the end of May”. The launch of NIO’s new five-seater SUV is now expected to happen within 8 weeks, 5 weeks later than the initial date, mid-April. The model was supposed to made its public debut at 2022 the Beijing Auto Show but Covid-19 cases surge in China may delay the event.
