Nio Group, which includes the Nio, Onvo, and Firefly brands, has set a new delivery record for the third month in a row, as it continues ramping up production of its two best-selling models.
Deliveries surged 16.2% to 40,397 vehicles in October, up from 34,749 units in September.
Year over year, the figures soared by 92.6%.
Last month, Onvo vehicles made up 43.0% of the group’s deliveries, once again making it the top-selling brand of the group — with 17,342 EVs.
Onvo‘s figures, which represented a new record, were mostly driven by its L90 SUV, for which the brand started deliveries in early August.
The brand announced last week that it delivered 30,000 L90 units in just 86 days.
The three-row SUV surpassed 10,000 deliveries for the third consecutive month in October.
Last week, the company began deliveries of the refreshed L60, which was unveiled in September.
Nio Brand
Meanwhile, its main premium brand delivered 17,143 units last month, up from 13,728 units in September, boosted by the ramp-up in production of the ES8 SUV.
On Friday, Nio announced it reached 10,000 deliveries of the new ES8 in just 41 days.
The third generation of the model was launched on September 20, with deliveries beginning on the following day.
The company has repeatedly stated over the past months that it will be focusing on the two three-row SUVs as the year-end approaches.
Production Ramp-up
Nio has been expanding hiring at its Hefei factories as it ramps up production capacity, and fulfill the ambitious goal of delivering 15o,000 EVs in the last quarter of the year.
As recently reported by EV, the company asked for support from the Hefei Government, located in the Anhui Province, to hire about 1,000 workers before the end of October.
Nio‘s production is spread across three factories, with the third plant having recently started operations in the province.
Last week, founder and CEO William Li reaffirmed that the company will raise its production capacity for the ES8 in December to 15,000 units.
At the launch event, the company announced that it expected to produce 40,000 ES8 units through the end of 2025.
One day later, the estimated delivery time stood at 24–26 weeks, indicating that orders on the first day alone far exceeded the company’s production capacity for the fourth quarter of the year.
Since last week, customers now face an “estimated delivery 22–23 weeks after configuration lock.”
According to local reports, Nio delivered more than 10,000 vehicles each week during the periods of October 13–19 and October 20–26.
Besides the delivery target, the company also expects to achieve profitability in the fourth quarter — a goal that founder and CEO William Li reaffirmed in mid-October.
Global Markets
Nio is preparing to expand into several European markets, shifting from a purely direct-to-consumer model to a mixed approach that includes dealerships.
Both Nio and Firefly brands will be introduced in Austria, Portugal, Belgium and Hungary before year-end, followed by Romania, Armenia, Czechia, Poland and Luxembourg in 2026.
Earlier this week, EV has exclusively learned that Benjamin Steinmetz, a key figure in Nio‘s product experience strategy for international markets, has resigned from the company.
The resignation comes just weeks after the brand’s Southern Europe region chief left Nio and days before both founders of the EV maker visit the European markets.
William Li, founder and chief executive officer, and Lihong Qin, co-founder and president, will visit the Old Continent early next week.
