Nio Extends 2025 Weekly Sales Streak With Third Straight Record

Nio, the upmarket electric vehicle marque of Shanghai-based Nio Group, recorded its highest weekly sales of the year for the third consecutive week, as the company seeks to deliver 440,000 vehicles this year across its three brands Nio, Onvo and Firefly.

Data published on Chinese social media on Tuesday showed 6,500 Nio vehicles were registered between April 21 and 27 — a 20.4% increase compared with the second week of April.

The acceleration in sales comes after the group introduced a temporary incentive package for April, including five years of free battery swapping, interest-free financing, and other benefits on 2024 models that will soon be replaced by the 2025 version.

The rebound follows a prolonged slump in weekly volumes, with the brand delivering fewer than 3,200 units per week for nine straight weeks. Nio’s recent performance places it ahead of several premium segment peers, including Geely-backed Zeekr, which recorded 3,500 registrations over the same period.

Nio recorded 17,200 domestic sales between March 31 and April 27, with three days remaining in the month.

When adding Nio’s family-oriented sub-brand Onvo, the Group’s total weekly sales reached 7,970 vehicles, up from the 6,200 registered in the previous week.

Nio shares surged nearly 8% on Monday after Citi analyst Jeff Chung added the stock to the “30-Day Positive Catalyst Watch” list. Citi increased its 2026 full year sales estimates by nearly 150,000 units while saying that it expects the company “to launch new models much earlier than the consensus expected.”

Citi also reaffirmed the 8.10 price target which, based on Friday’s closing price of $4.03, implies an upside potential of 101%.

In the final quarter of the year, Nio is planning to launch the 2025 version of its three-row flagship SUV, the ES8.

Nio Group delivered 15,039 vehicles in March, a nearly 27% year-on-year increase. However, sales of the Nio brand fell 13% from a year ago to 10,219 units.
