Electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Nio announced on Monday the delivery of 21,209 vehicles in June, surpassing the company’s estimate that had previously forecasted between 17,800 and 19,8000 vehicles delivered.

The result represents a year-over-year growth of 98.10 percent and brings the quarterly deliveries to 57,373 units, a growth of 143.90 percent. As of the time of writing, Nio US-listed stock is trading 4.33 percent higher at $4.33 per share following the news.

In May, the company achieved its best monthly result ever with the delivery of 20,544 vehicles, a record that is now surpassed by June deliveries.

During the last earnings call in early June, Nio said it expected second-quarter vehicle deliveries to range between 54,000 and 56,000 units, anticipating 17,836 to 19,836 vehicles to be delivered in June.

In terms of revenue, Nio estimates them to be “between RMB16,587 million (US$2,297 million) and RMB17,135 million (US$2,373 million), representing an increase of approximately 89.1% to 95.3% from the same quarter of 2023”.

Last month, the company inaugurated in China its first batch of Power Swap Station 4.0, which allows a faster battery replacement for Nio drivers — including the sub-brands — but also for the owners of the brands the company has been partnering with.

Over the last months, the company has been forming battery swap partnerships with several key automotive and energy companies including Changan Automobile, Geely Holding Group, Chery, and Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC).

Additionally, Nio announced in late April that has partnered with Lotus to co-develop charging and battery swap technologies.

The new stations, unveiled last December at the annual event Nio Day, support automated battery swaps for multiple brands and vehicle models.
