Electric vehicle maker Nio inaugurated on Thursday its first batch of Power Swap Station 4.0, which allow a faster battery replacement for Nio drivers — including the sub-brands — but also for the owners of the brands the company has been partnering with.
Over the last months, the company has been forming battery swap partnerships with several key automotive and energy companies including Changan Automobile, Geely Holding Group, Chery, and Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC).
Additionally, Nio announced in late April that has partnered with Lotus to co-develop charging and battery swap technologies.

The new stations, unveiled last December at the annual event Nio Day, support automated battery swaps for multiple brands and vehicle models.

The fourth generation of battery swap stations features six ultrawide-FOV LiDARs and four Orin X chips from Nvidia, collectively delivering a computing power of 1,016
Tera Operations Per Second (TOPS).
The new stations boast a 22 percent increase in speed compared to their predecessors, completing a battery swap in just 144 seconds, according to the electric vehicle maker. Each station can hold up to 23 batteries, enabling up to 480 swaps per day.
Alongside the new swap stations, Nio also launched a 640kW Liquid-Cooled Power Charger. This charger, with a maximum current of 765A and a voltage of 1,000V, features a liquid-cooled cable weighing 2.4kg.
China’s bank BOCOM International has released a new research report on Tuesday maintaining a positive outlook on the Shanghai-based Nio, despite the company’s weaker-than-expected first quarter performance.
The bank remains confident in Nio’s future, citing robust a second quarter guidance as the electric vehicle maker forecasts deliveries between 54,000 and 56,000 vehicles, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 129.6 percent to 138.1 percent.
