NIO announced on Friday that, due to the current flight problems affecting millions of travelers, is now offering free charging in the European Union countries that operate for its Norwegian users. In the last two months, airlines cancelled tens of thousands of flights with Europe having more than double the cancellations of the U.S. between April and June, according to RadarBox.com data.

“Many of our owners have spent their holiday money booking holidays abroad. Now they are in danger of losing their holiday due to flight problems. In NIO, we couldn’t stand by and watch. We have therefore made all charging in the EU the countries we operate in for free for our Norwegian users. You can find more info in the NIO app,” the EV maker stated.
Earlier this week, NIO launched the 1,000th Battery Swap Station, the company hosted the 2022 NIO Power Day where unveiled what the company is working on for the upcoming months namely the new 500kW ultra-fast charger and the third generation of NIO’s Battery Swap Stations.
“More products and technological innovations will be launched soon: 500kW super fast charge, Third-generation of Battery Swap Stations, and also an 800v high-voltage platform battery pack and supporting power exchange system, open to the whole industry”, NIO said.
On Monday, the EV maker announced that has reached a total of 10 million battery swaps four years after launching its first Battery Swap Station in China providing users with a cumulative mileage of more than 1.98 billion kilometers. The NIO user with the most battery swaps has been to 169 Stations and swapped the battery 1,364 times.
NIO will enter 4 new European Markets in 2022: Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and The Netherlands. During the last NIO Day, the company revealed that will be present in 25 Countries by 2025.
