Firefly Sells Out New Edition in 30 Hours, Brand’s Chief Says

Firefly, the second sub-brand of the EV maker Nio, has sold out the limited edition version of its debut model launched earlier this week.

The edition — called ‘Nomadic Maillard’ and limited to 333 units — sold out in 30 hours, the brand’s chief Daniel Jin announced on Wednesday.

“30 hours, Nomadic Maillard Edition sold out!” he wrote on his WeChat account.

“Thank you all for your support. We aim to build the world’s best small car!” Jin added.

The new version was showcased across 48 Nio showrooms in China and deliveries began immediately.

The model features exclusive wheels, decals and interior ambient lighting, and can be purchased under Nio’s Battery-as-a-Service rental plan for 93,800 yuan ($13,100) with a monthly battery fee of 399 yuan ($56).

The version costs an additional 14,000 yuan compared to the entry-level trim of the regular variant.

As reported on Tuesday, Firefly recorded its strongest sales week since deliveries started in April with 883 vehicles insured.

Figures edged up from 880 in the prior week and 684 in the first full week of August.

Firefly‘s compact EV was adopted earlier this month by China’s Urban Management Enforcement authorities in Anhui province, joining the fleet of municipal vehicles.

The brand also started handing over vehicles to European customers earlier this month, marking its entry nearly four years after the core Nio marque expanded to the continent.

Registration figures show six Firefly units were recorded in the Netherlands and one in Norway on the first day of deliveries.

Nio said last week that Firefly will expand to Singapore in 2026, its first right-hand-drive market.

By contrast, Costa Rica and Uzbekistan — also announced as new destinations — will only see the Nio and Onvo brands offered.
