Lucid Rolls Out OTA Key Fob Update to Fix Gravity Recognition Issues

Lucid Motors began offering Gravity owners the ability to update their key fob firmware wirelessly through the mobile app this week.

Over recent months, numerous Gravity owners have reported widespread key fob recognition problems on social media and owner forums, frequently receiving “key not detected” alerts when attempting to use their vehicles.

When releasing the 3.3.1 over-the-air (OTA) software update for its Gravity SUV in September, the company stated that it fixed key fob connectivity issues previously flagged by owners.

However, Lucid noted that it required a service center visit.

Two weeks ago, an executive announced that the 3.3.5 software update would significantly improve the experience.

In a post on the Lucid Owners forum, the Head of Global Comms Nick Twork wrote that “after extensive testing, the upcoming 3.3.5 software update for Lucid Gravity has demonstrated a significant reduction in ‘key not detected’ alerts.”

By then, Twork also stated that the EV maker was “preparing a separate key fob firmware update,” aimed at eliminating issues like customers needing to “remove and reinsert their key fob battery to restore recognition.”

To receive the key fob update, owners had to “schedule a service appointment” at a Service Center or with a Lucid Mobile Service technician, as soon as they updated to the 3.3.5 version.

With the latest update to the Lucid mobile app, Gravity owners can now update their key fob firmware directly through the app.

Multiple key fobs can be updated individually by connecting each one to a phone via Bluetooth, without needing to be near the vehicle.

With previous updates, such as the 3.3.2, had improved with the “No key detected message” appeareing less often to Gravity owners.

Lucid currently offers the Gravity Grand Touring in the US, which starts from $94,900. The Gravity Touring is expected to launch in its domestic market later this month.

The Touring variant starts at $81,550 including shipping, making it the cheapest version of the three-row SUV.

Earlier this week, the company released a new teaser of its upcoming midsize crossover, one of the models to be produced under the platform.

Lucid said last year that the midsize platform is scheduled to start production in late 2026 with a starting price under $50,000.

The crossover will be the first vehicle to feature NVIDIA’s DRIVE AGX Thor computing platform and to target Level 4 autonomous capability, which was also revealed on Tuesday.
