Lucid Motors registered 7 electric vehicles in the Netherlands in September, data from the Dutch association BOVAG showed on Tuesday.

Year to date, the company led by Peter Rawlinson has registered 38 vehicles in the Dutch market, up from the 24 units recorded in the first three quarters of 2023.

Last weekend, Lucid opened a new showroom in Europe. Located in Frankfurt, Germany, the location is the 7th store on the continent.

Currently, the EV maker is operating in four European countries including Switzerland, Germany, Norway, and the Netherlands.

Lucid aims to produce 9,000 vehicles this year, targeting North America and the Middle East as its primary sales markets, while sales in Europe continue to account for a small portion of the company’s overall output.

Lucid’s premium competitor Nio registered 21 units after expanding to the market nearly two years ago, in October 2022.

Geely brands performed strongly, with premium EV maker Zeekr recording 80 units and Volvo registering 905 units of its smallest BEV model, the EX30. The EX30 secured third place among the best-selling BEV models in September, just behind the Tesla Model Y and Model 3.

The registration of fully electric cars in the Netherlands surged by 20.6 percent year-over-year in September, reaching 12,461 units.

Between January and September, hybrid vehicles had a 43.4 percent market share while gasoline powered cars fell to 22.5 percent with 62,650 registrations.

Tesla led the brand rankings, driven by 2,585 Model Y and 1,248 Model 3 units registered. The models were the best selling ones last month with Volvo EX30 (905 units), BMW IX1 (579) and Audi Q4 e-Tron (547 units) following.

With 1,728 vehicles produced in the first quarter and 2,110 vehicles in the second quarter, the California based EV maker expects to produce 5,162 vehicles in the second half of the year.
