Lucid CEO Says Some Gravity Configurations Still Hit by Supply Shortages

Lucid Motors’ interim chief executive, Marc Winterhoff, told reservation holders of the Gravity SUV this week that while most configurations are now in production, some remain affected by component shortages that are delaying deliveries.

In a new email to customers obtained by EV, Winterhoff said the production ramp-up of the seven-seat SUV had “faced a few challenges, including supplier constraints.”

The executive added that “deliveries are accelerating” and momentum is expected to build through the summer despite not promising that all the configurations will be in production by the end of the Summer.

“Most configurations are now in production, and we’re working diligently to resolve the few that remain affected by component shortages,” he wrote.

Winterhoff said the company expects “nearly all build combinations” to be available by the end of summer.

However, for customers who opted for some certain configurations which are “still impacted by component supply,” Winterhoff said the delivery “may take longer than initially anticipated.”

The comments come after the interim CEO acknowledged in late June that the model’s production ramp-up had “gone more slowly than desired.”

Nick Twork, Lucid’s global head of communications, gave a separate update on Wednesday, saying the company expects a major increase in output in the second half of the year and that more Gravity vehicles were produced in recent weeks than in the January-June period.

“Supply chain constraints were behind the initial issues we experienced in scaling up, but we have since addressed many of those constraints and improved manufacturing efficiency during the year,” Twork said.

The statement followed a report by the blog citing S&P Global Mobility data showing that only nine Gravity SUVs were sold in the first half of 2025. The low figures are consistent with earlier data from Motor Intelligence and Cox Automotive.

As previously reported by EV, Winterhoff dismissed Motor Intelligence figures indicating zero Gravity sales in July as “totally false.”

“In overcoming most of these issues, we are further ramping up Lucid Gravity production, giving us confidence that we will significantly increase Lucid Gravity production in the second half of the year,” Twork said.

“To put things in perspective, just in the past few weeks, we have built more Lucid Gravity SUVs than in the first half of the year.”

Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Andres Sheppard estimates Lucid will deliver 16,650 vehicles in 2025, including 10,586 Lucid Air sedans and 6,064 Gravity units.

Dear [],

Thank you for ordering your Lucid Gravity Dream Edition. We understand you have been waiting patiently for your vehicle, and I want to personally thank you for your continued trust and enthusiasm.

Regrettably, our production ramp up has faced a few challenges, including supplier constraints, and I want to apologize to you for any inconvenience this may have caused.

The good news: deliveries are accelerating, and we expect that momentum to build throughout the summer. Most configurations are now in production, and we’re working diligently to resolve the few that remain affected by component shortages.

If your selected configuration is still impacted by component supply, it may take longer than initially anticipated. Your Sales Specialist can provide the latest delivery estimate and may offer alternate configurations that could get you behind the wheel sooner.

We know your Lucid Gravity was thoughtfully configured to match your lifestyle, and we’re committed to delivering exactly what you envisioned. By the end of summer, we expect nearly all build combinations to be available.

Lucid Gravity is redefining what an SUV can be — and I assure you it will be well worth the wait.

As a small token of our appreciation for your patience and support, we will be sending you a Lucid Gravity speed form model in the mail.

Thank you again for your belief in Lucid. We’re honored to have you with us on this journey.

Warm regards,

Marc Winterhoff — Interim CEO, Lucid
