Hyundai unveiled on Tuesday the name and first teaser images of its upcoming A-segment sub-compact electric vehicle Inster. The model is scheduled to debut at the Busan International Mobility Show later this month.

Hyundai says the name is derived from the words “intimate” and “innovative,” reflecting its vision for its new sub-compact EV which targets a maximum range of 355 km under the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP).

The debut is expected to happen on June 27, and is expected to go on sale in the coming months to rival the electric peers Citroen e-C3 and the BYD Dolphin.

Hyundai Motor America reported recently a 12 percent increase in May sales, reaching 78,485 units compared to one year ago.

The result market the best all-time retail and total sales for IONIQ 5 and Santa Fe HEV as Hyundai‘s total EV sales saw a 42 percent increase in May.

Hyundai and Kia have recently inked a memorandum of understanding with Exide Energy Solutions Ltd to provide batteries for their electric vehicles in India.

The South Korean automakers highlighted that the collaboration with Exide Energy is geared towards localizing EV battery production in India, the world’s third largest automotive market.
