Fisker Ocean, the SUV capable of driving up to 360 miles per charge, is currently suffering significant discounts at dealer auctions with prices decreasing from $33,000 to $21,000 over the last two months.

In late March, Fisker announced price reductions in all the variants of its Ocean SUV, lowering the price of the Extreme trim by $24,000 — from $61,499 to $37,499. In addition, the Ultra trim was priced at $34,999 in the U.S., reduced from $52,999 while the Sport was priced at $24,999, down from $38,999.

A Fisker owner, who also has an automotive repair shop in the United States, has shared that the latest sales of Ocean units at the ACV Auctions platform have seen the pricing reaching $21,000.

“Recently a couple of the auction sites I use started listing new Oceans. Roughly two months ago you could buy an Ocean One for around $33-$37k. The prices continued to drop and I purchased one two weeks ago for $21,000. It came from a distribution center out of Oklahoma City,” the new owner said.

Last week, the company has decided to halt direct vehicle sales to customers in states where it lacks dealership locations.

Based on recent auctions, the average selling price of the SUV is approximately $23,000, with most vehicles having fewer than 20 miles, indicating they are new models.

ACV Auctions is a digital platform for wholesale vehicle auctions, primarily serving automotive dealers by streamlining the buying and selling of used vehicles.

One week ago, the company sent an email to its U.S. customers, informing them of the discontinuation of the roadside assistance service. This decision mirrors the earlier announcement to halt the service in Europe earlier this month.

Fisker has reportedly closed its showroom at The Grove in Los Angeles, just three weeks after shutting its New York store.

As Fisker continues to cut costs and transition from direct sales to a dealer partnership model, the only remaining U.S. facility is a “Fisker Center+” near San Diego. This location combines a showroom, service, and delivery center, according to Fisker’s website.

In January, the company announced a shift from direct sales to a dealer partnership model. Six weeks later, Fisker reported that over 250 dealers in North America and globally had expressed interest in selling its first production model, the Fisker Ocean.

The company now has a total of 24 dealer locations, including 12 in Europe, up from nine dealer locations four weeks ago. In its recently filed annual report, Fisker stated that it selects its dealers based on multiple criteria, including the ability to deliver a high level of customer satisfaction.

In the recently filed annual report, Fisker said that was “selecting its dealers based upon multiple criteria, including a dealer’s ability to deliver a high level of customer satisfaction”.

Last week, EV learned that Fisker has initiated a new round of layoffs, affecting its IT organization, Purchasing department, and Customer Relations.

In recent months, the company has faced challenges securing new investments, leading to a production pause with its manufacturing partner Magna and multiple rounds of layoffs. As part of a strategic shift, Fisker is transitioning to dealer partnership sales.
