The iconic manufacturer Ferrari announced on Monday the opening of a new Cell Lab focused on lithium battery cells together with its partner NXP Semiconductors.
NXP will be technology partner and supporter of the project and the collaboration will be “of vital importance in extending the scope and value of the research activity,” Ferrari stated.

Set to release its first fully electric supercar by late next year, Ferrari added that the lab’s primary objectives include in-depth analysis of solid states, fast charging, thermal charging, as well as enhancing cell safety and performance.
Jens Hinrichsen, EVP and GM of Advanced Analog at NXP, enhanced that both parts (together with the University of Bologna) ““Through the combined efforts of NXP, Ferrari and University of Bologna, we “expect to set new benchmarks for performance and sustainability to reach our common goal of a greener, brighter future”.
